Makers of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ delete inappropriate reference to Shrikrushna

We at Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA) had received several complaints from devout Hindus regarding the objectionable and insulting use of the dialogue referring to the revered Hindu Deity Shrikrushna in the upcoming Hollywood movie ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

Upon reviewing the trailer and complaints, FHA team immediately appealed Fox movies requesting them to remove all the controversial and degrading scenes and dialogues related to Shrikrushna from the movie including the trailer from YouTube. In the appeal, FHA explained that the movie’s villainous mutant character is indirectly compared with revered Hindu Deity Shrikrushna which is upsetting to millions of Hindu devotees. Shrikrushna is not a mutant; but an Incarnation of God. By comparing Shrikrushna to an evil mutant the movie director has created a stereotyped representation of a revered Deity and reflected insensitivity towards Sanatan Dharma.

In addition, there was strong opposition registered by distinguished statesman and President of Universal Society of Hinduism, Mr. Rajan Zed, who felt that “such trivialization of Lord Krishna was quite inappropriate and disturbing to the devotees”.

In response, 20th Century Fox and Director Bryan Singer decided to delete the reference to Shrikrushna from the movie which was released on May 27, 2016.
