‘Historical facts of Dadoji Kondadev should be restored’

Pune: Falling prey to the pressure tactics of communalists, Maharashtra Government, earlier, changed the title of the award conferred in the name of Dadoji Konddev and now his name has also been removed from History text book. Various pro-Hindu Organizations held demonstrations outside the office of District Collector. Later, a memorandum stating their demands was submitted to Shri. D S Jagtap, Director-Primary Education and Shri. Prakash Kadam, resident Dy. District Collector. There is a warning given in this memorandum that if the true history of Dadoji Konddev is not restored in the text books, devout Hindus would take to road.

It has also been mentioned in the memorandum that the Maharashtra Government has started a new row over Dadoji Konddev, by omitting from the 4th standard History text book, reference about his being a teacher of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his Guru who trained him in warfare; when there is already a dispute going on regarding construction of memorial of Chahatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea. Few persons, being communalists, have been misleading people and spreading poisonous matter about a great personality like Dadoji Konddev.  

The agitators had tied black bands and were holding black flags to protest against the Government. They were also holding banners with matter like ‘Teach a lesson to the Maharashtra Government for teaching distorted history’, ‘Note the Hindu-hatred of the State Govt. for omitting Dadoji Konddev from history’, ‘It is the policy of the Government to give burial to true history’ etc.

Many eminent personalities like Smt. Himani Savarkar, the all-India president of Hindu Mahasabha, Shri. Milind Ekbote of Samasta Hindu Aghadi, Shri. Rambhau Parikh, former city-chief of Shiv Sena, Shri. Parashar Mone of Sree Shivapratishthan, Advocate Rajiv Deshpande of Hindu Ekta Andolan, Shri. Chandrashekhar Shinde of Lalmahal Utsav Samiti, Shri. Vidyadhar Nargolkar of Swa. Savarkar Smruti Pratishthan and Shri. Girish Dhumal & Shri. Sunil Ghanavat of HJS were present on the occasion.
