Message to volunteers of the HJS

Magh Shuddha Saptami

Plan the following campaigns and programmes in the next two months!

You can appeal to people to celebrate  Republic day as per the tithi (date as per Hindu lunar calendar) instead of the English calendar.

February 2009

  • 6th February 2009 in memory of Maharana Pratap (Smrutidin): If you have any statue or memorial of Maharana Pratap in your city then clean the spot and offer garlands. Reputed social personalities may be invited as guests.
  • 17th February 2009 in memory of Vasudev Balwant Phadke (Smrutidin): ( For those in Raigad District – His house and monument is near Panvel.) To commemorate this day you can invite local Hindus and renowned personalities to pay homage at the monument.
  • 19th February 2009 : This is the birth anniversary (Jayanti) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj according to the English calendar, it is 13th March 2009 according to the tithi. An appeal can be made to people to celebrate Shiva Jayanti as per the tithi this year. When organisations cannot comply with the change this year, you can participate in their functions such as rallies, seminars etc. The ‘FACT’ organisation which has a pictorial exhibition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Aurangzeb can be arranged in big cities like Mumbai, Pune etc. This opportunity can be taken to appeal to the attendees to celebrate this Jayanti as per the tithi.
27th February 2009, Marathi Rajbhasha (state language) day and Chandrashekhar Azad Balidandin (martyrs day): This day can be used to  organise programmes to impress the importance of the mother tongue on society and also to remember the martyrdom of Chandrashekhar Azad, in educational institutions and also at public squares.

March 2009

  • 2nd March 2009, death anniversary (Punyatithi)of Swatantryaveer Sawarkar according to the tithi: This day can be used as above to remind people of this great patriot and his accomplishments through a programme held in educational institutions and at public squares. You may work in unison with local organisations working under the banner of Swatantryaveer Sawarkar
  • 10th and 11th March 2009, Holi and Dhulivandan (festival of colours): To curb the malpractice prevalent in these festivals, you can campaign against them about 10-12 daysin advance. You can also motivate people to celebrate Holi ideally in accordance with the Scriptures. This can be done by involving the local organisations. The ANIS (an atheist organisation) through pamphlets maligns this festival . You can also play a role in counter attacking these through social awareness.
  • 13th March 2009 : Birthday of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as per tithi You can organise programmes and also participate in rallies, seminars etc. In collaboration with the ‘FACT’ organisation the pictorial exhibition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Aurangzeb can be arranged in big cities like Mumbai, Pune etc.
  • 15th March 2009 (Rangapanchami) : To curb the malpractice associated with this festival, you can have social awareness programmes 10-12 days before the festival.
  • 23th March 2009, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev Balidandin (martyrs day) : To remind the people of the martyrdom of these brave revolutionaries you can arrange programmes in educational institutions, public squares, etc.
26th March 2009, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Balidandin (martyr’s day): You can organise a programme with worship of his statue and  lectures to remind people of his martyrdom, in educational institutions and at public squares.
  • 27th March 2009, (Gudhi Padwa) (Hindu New Year): On behalf of the HJS you can organise a programme to welcome the new year with ritualistic raising of the gudhi (flag) in accordance with the Scriptures.

Planning of press conferences, printing pamphlets, organising meetings, making banners or arranging other material required for any of the above programmes should be done well in advance.
