Dear Sir,
We inform you that the news published on your website http://www.persecution.in on the link http://www.persecution.in/node/3509 with the title "Delhi-based doctor RP Singh mastermind in blast by blast of Ultra Hindus", contains a statement that "He also runs an organisation called Hindu Janajagruti Samiti that aims to "stop denigration of Hindu dharma and protect the nation", is absolutely wrong, as the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and its members do not have any connections with person named R P Singh, from Delhi. Hence we request you to publish our clarification and your apology in this regard immediately for the same on your website within a couple of days. Delhi-based doctor RP Singh mastermind in blast by blast of Ultra Hindus
Delhi-based doctor RP Singh, who the Maharashtra Police suspect was part of a conspiracy to kill two Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) top leaders, has a history of pushing the boundaries in pursuing the "Hindutva cause."
HT had reported on Saturday that Singh and Shyam Apte, an RSS leader from Pune, were in touch with self-styled spiritual leader Dayanand Pandey and retired major Ramesh Upadhyay, who are under arrest for conspiring and executing a blast in Malegaon that killed five people on September 29. The alleged conspiracy was to eliminate RSS leaders Mohan Bhagwat and Indresh Kumar.
Dr Singh, a consultant endocrinologist with New Delhi's Apollo Hospital, was the one who moved a Delhi court in 2006 and obtained an order to register a case against artist MF Husain for his paintings of Bharat Mata, Draupadi and Sita that allegedly hurt Hindu sentiments.
He also runs an organisation called Hindu Janajagruti Samiti that aims to "stop denigration of Hindu dharma and protect the nation".
Before going incommunicado on Saturday, Singh spoke in detail about his association with the accused in the Malegaon blast case.
Singh admitted meeting Sudhakar Dwivedi aka Dayanand Pandey six times over the last 18 months. The last meeting, in East Delhi's Shahdara, took place a few days before Pandey was nabbed on November 12. "Pandey called and asked me to meet him at a journalist friend's house. We discussed issues related to giving humanitarian aid to Hindus in Kashmir and Nepal," Singh told HT.
He had also met Apte and Upadhyay in Faridabad on January 26, 2008 with Pandey. "The topic of discussion here was the rise of Maoists in the Hindu kingdom," said Singh.
In the same meeting, Singh told HT the name of Indresh Kumar, who runs an RSS affiliate NGO Himalaya Parivar in Nepal, had cropped up.
"Although Indresh works for RSS in India, he collaborated with Maoists in Nepal against our people there," alleged Singh.
Singh was, however, quick to add that he had "not discussed any terror act or plan to kill anyone."
Singh insists he is being framed. "Somebody has caused some misunderstanding. I believe that Islamic terror cannot be countered by another form of terror," he said, about reports about the alleged conspiracy.
Maharashtra ATS suspects that Singh and Apte turned against RSS leaders for not doing enough for the cause of Hindutva.
Singh, a Noida resident who studied medicine at the Benaras Hindu University, joined the RSS in 1973 after finishing his STD X. He has since been associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (he was the general secretary of its Delhi unit) and Gorakhpur Parliamentarian Adityanath's World Hindu Federation (Singh resigned as its general secretary last year).
During the Faridabad meeting, Pandey introduced Singh to some members of the newly constituted Abhinav Bharat, including some ex-servicemen. "Apart from Apte and Upadhyay, he had introduced me to four-five other retired officers/men though I do not remember if Lieutenant colonel Prasad Purohit was one of them," said Singh.
