Thieves steal statues of deities from Hindu temple

Covina (USA): Police are looking for a burglar who broke into a Hindu temple and stole three statues of deities. The items were stolen Oct. 20 from the United Hindu Temple on Covina Boulevard. The thieves broke a window to gain entry to the building.

In addition to the copper and bronze statues, the burglars stole two large drums, called Mirudhangam, and some oil lamps.

Police say the thefts threaten to disrupt upcoming services and festivals. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Covina Police Department at (626) 858-4413.
