Govt. to confirm Dadoji Kondadev was Guru of Shivaji Maharaj

Mumbai: Sportsperson with exceptional performances during the year, are conferred the award in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the coaches of these players are conferred with an award named after Dadoji Kondadev, the Guru of Shivaraya; but for the past few years, few so called social organizations have taken objection to Dadoji Kondadev being the Guru of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In this background, the Government has now decided to find the historic truth about Dadoji Kondadev. (When there are sufficient proofs of the incident, in some part of the world, which happened about 3 and half centuries ago, why should there be confusion?  Such things can happen only in India- Editor)

As a result, this year, there will be delay in declaration of the awards started from 1988-89. Organization having objection to the award being named after Dadoji Kondadev, have demanded to name it after either Shahajiraje or Khashaba Jadhav, former Olympic player. A committee has been set up in this connection which will obtain advice and opinions from various organizations within next 2 weeks. Based on such collected views and historical documents, the committee will present its report to the Government within 3 months. (Why so much time is needed in preparing report? – Editor) Thereafter, the Government will take a decision on naming of the said award. The committee will comprise of Shri. Rajendra Shingane, the State Sports Minister, Dr. A. H. Salunkhe, Shri. Ninad Bedekar, Shiv-shahir Shri. Vijay Deshmukh, Shri. Gajanan Mehendale, Dr. A. R. Kulkarni, Prof. Anuradha Ranade, Shri. Jaisinghrao Pawar, Dr. Vasantrao More, Shri. Shivaji Kokate, Shri.. Gangadhar Banbare, Shri. Chandrashekhar Shikhare, Shri. Pravin Gaikwad and directors of Sports and Youth organizations.

Dadoji was the Guru of Shivaraya!

In the book titled ‘Shri Shivachhatrapati Sankalpit Shiv- charitrachi Prastavana, Arakhada Va Sadhane’ written by Historian Tryambak Shankar Shejwalkar, it has been clearly mentioned in the above book that ‘Dadoji Kondadev’ did guide Shivaraya.
