‘Save Khadakvasla Dam’ drive by HJS on ‘Holi’ festival

By Staff Reporter

Pune (Maharashtra): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) will take up a drive to prevent indecent activities taking place around Khadakvasala dam on the day of ‘Dhulivandan’, i.e. the following day of ‘Holi’. Such drive will be undertaken even on 27th March i.e. ‘Ranga-panchami’. On 22nd March, HJS members will meet people in the area from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m., explain to them the science behind celebrating festivals and make them aware towards the misconduct taking place on such days. The members will also patrol the area to prevent any misdeeds from happening.

HJS has been taking up such drive for the past 7 years and has been successful in completely preventing incidents of indecent behaviour on these days; thus saving citizens of Pune from supply of contaminated water mixed with colours. In this drive, HJS also received valuable support from various Hindu organizations, locals and Administration. On the day of ‘Dhuli-vandan’ and ‘Ranga-panchami’, people go to Khadakvasala dam area to drink, young boys and girls play with colours, misbehave and take bath in the dam. The water of the dam thus gets contaminated with colours, chemicals, plastic bags, left over food etc. and becomes unfit to drink. For worldly pleasures of a few, health of whole population of the city is endangered. People visit the place in vehicles resulting in traffic jams. They play loud music thus creating noise pollution too and they dance or behave indecently creating nuisance to public. (Owing to lack of knowledge about Dharma and science behind celebration of different rituals, Hindus are causing damage to Dharma by following Western culture. It shows the dire need of ‘Dharma-shikshan’ for Hindus – Editor)
