HJS serves memorandum to Amravati police

By: staff Reporter

Amravati: Despite a police complaint being lodged against the accused and him being booked under section 295, the police did not arrest the unknown accused for denigrating the idol of Lord Hanuman in Indala village, 7 kilometres from Amravati. In the memorandum submitted to the Frazarpura police station, the HJS has asked for immediate action, that is arrest and punishment of the culprit.

The memorandum discusses how recently there has been a spurt of incidents of denigration of Hindu deities. At Nagpur the Hanuman idol from the temple was broken, at Gadchiroli the idol of Lakshmi-Narayan from the temple was disfigured and the clothes of the deities burnt, at Aamori the eyes of the idol of Lord Hanuman were scooped out with a sharp weapon, at the ‘supari market’ in Aurangabad the Hanuman temple was trespassed and the idol kicked amidst chanting of ‘Allah o Akbar’. Such anti-social elements require severe punishment. Yet the police chooses to investigate such cases at a snail’s pace. The HJS has warned that finally if the people unleash their wrath then only the incompetent police and government is to blame for this. Those present when submitting this memorandum were  Shri Sachin Thakre, Shri Amol Vankhede, Shri Sontakke, Shri Sanjay Rambole of the HJS, Shri Prakash Tetu of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, journalist of the ‘Pratidin’ Shri Munot and Shri Amardeep of the ‘Asian Channel’. A copy of this memorandum was given to the Amravati Police Commissioner
