Tiles with pictures of deities removed on advice of HJS

Kalamboli: In a local housing society called ‘Premises Beema Complex’, tiles with pictures of deities worshipped in different religions were fitted in the buildings. People used to spit on these tiles resulting in denigration of deities. When it was realized by members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), they explained to the members of the society regarding denigration and followed up the matter with them.

A letter demanding removal of all such tiles from the buildings was given to the society management by Mrs. Abhaya Vartak, a member of HJS. As no action was taken by the society in this regard, HJS members presented the topic in one of the meetings of the society and followed up with the society. The management of the society assured that the tiles will be replaced after monsoon. But the HJS members warned them that the matter was related to hurting religious feelings of people and a case can be filed against the society under Section 295-A when the tiles were removed in the same week.
