Urges Ganesh mandals and devotees to celebrate the festival in a traditional manner
In an earnest appeal to preserve the sanctity and cultural essence of the upcoming festival, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has urged Ganesh Mandals and devotees to celebrate Ganeshotsav using traditional musical instruments and keep the celebrations completely ‘DJ-free’.
Making this appeal, Shri. Sunil Ghanwat, HJS State Organiser for Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, stated that the growing use of loud DJ systems is undermining the spiritual essence of the festival and causing significant public nuisance.

Loud DJ systems and vulgar dancing undermine the sanctity of Ganeshotsav
Elaborating on the Samiti’s stance, Shri. Ghanwat added, “Ganeshotsav is inherently a sattvik (pure), holy, and joyous festival. However, over the past few years, it has been increasingly marred by malpractices. The use of DJs playing obscene songs at deafening volumes, often accompanied by vulgar dancing, has distorted the true nature of the festival. These practices not only disrupt social harmony but also pose serious health hazards to devotees and and the general public.”
Reminding the public of the festival’s historical significance, Shri. Ghanwat said, “Lokmanya Tilak initiated the public Ganeshotsav with the noble objectives of social awakening, public education, and fostering Hindu unity. Unfortunately, blind imitation of Western culture has increasingly overshadowed these core objectives. The HJS has been strictly opposing this DJ culture and other unrighteous practices for several years, and we firmly demand that such trends be stopped.”
Mandals urged to adopt the ‘Solapur Pattern’ for traditional celebrations
Highlighting a positive development, Shri. Sunil Ghanwat pointed out that many Ganesh Mandals are now voluntarily coming forward to celebrate a DJ-free festival. “The ‘Solapur Pattern’, where mandals in Solapur city have successfully set a precedent for traditional and noise-free celebrations, is highly commendable. To truly provide spiritual joy to devotees, create social awareness, and preserve our rich Hindu culture and traditions, there is absolutely no need for DJs. Nobody will oppose a festival celebrated with traditional instruments and devotion,” he noted.
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has called upon all Ganesh Mandals, devotees, and citizens to take the initiative and celebrate this year’s Ganeshotsav with immense enthusiasm, strictly adhering to traditional practices and ensuring that the festivities remain 100% DJ-free.
