‘Maneeshika’ organization’s efforts against the irreverence of deities through Tiles

An extensive campaign is being activated by the president of ‘Maneeshika’, (Research-culture-customs / rituals-service organization, based in Calcutta), Mr. Pushkarlal Kedia against the irreverence of deities happening through tiles with deities’ pictures on them. This organization is attracting the attention of politicians, religious teachers, Hindu organizations, officers and ordinary man towards this campaign. (The tiles printed with deities’ pictures are put up at many objectionable places. We congratulate the President of ‘Maneeshika’ Mr. Kedia for this campaign! The rest of the Hindus should learn from this. – Editor.)
The leaflets of the organization read, “In London, they print the picture of Lord Ganesh on lenhgas (an Indian dress) to participate in fashion parade, In USA the picture of Lord Ganesh with liquor bottle in hand is printed on liquor bottles”. We get to read about such incidents in News Papers and Hindus living there object to it too. In our own country the tiles with deities’ pictures printed on them are placed on the roads or on the corners of the staircases. The pictures of deities are placed on such places with the aim to discourage people to spit or urinate there; but by doing so aren’t we loosing our faith in deities?
Mr. Pushkarlal Kedia has appealed to all Hindu devotees to participate in the campaign. He has also requested all not to put pictures of deities at places where They will be disrespected. He further said, if anyone comes across such tiles, they should remove them immediately. As a result to the appeal of Mr. Kedia, the heads of various religious, spiritual and Hindu organizations have sent him their letters of support and have assured him as well that they will educate the public through their discourses.
