It’s time for TN govt to exit Hindu temples: Telangana governor Tamilisai

Chennai: Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday said it was time for the Tamil Nadu government to let go of control over Hindu temples.

After offering prayers at Pattinathar temple in Tiruvottiyur in Chennai, the governor, while interacting with reporters, said the state government should quit temples.

“When you don’t have faith in Hindu temples, why do you want to control them? You will not greet people for Deepavali and Ganesh Chaturthi, but you want only the properties of Hindu temples. It is time for the (TN) government to exit Hindu temples,” she said.

Tamilisai defended the PM, saying, “Modi belongs to the entire nation and moreover, he did not say anything wrong.” She said, “Modi’s speech was misunderstood and that’s why we must learn Hindi to understand his speech.”

She also criticised Stalin saying, “The DMK does not want Hindi in Tamil Nadu, but to translate Stalin’s podcast in Hindi, they are recruiting people well-versed in Hindi.
