Ponda (Goa): A memorandum was passed by the `Rugveda Dhanaparayan Celebrations Committee’ at Kapileshvari in Goa and forwarded to the Prime Minister to take immediate action & stop the ‘Setusamudram Shipping Canal’ project of the Central government, which aims at destroying the divine bridge built by Lord Rama constructed during the Ramayana era.
‘The bridge constructed by Lord Rama is our national pride and instead of being protected it is being destroyed; this is a conspiracy of the Central government.’ The memorandum warns that if the Central government does not take immediate steps to stop this project, then it would have to face a widespread agitation. The memorandum has been chalked out under the guidance of Shrimad Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Puri, Arossa Peeth and with inspiration from Pandit Pravar Ganeshshastri Dravid of Kashi and has been signed by over 250 Hindus. By signing the memorandum the Sanstan Sanstha too has expressed its solidarity with this campaign.
