Good response from reporters for press conference of Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati Maharaj at Pune !

Pune – ‘Kumbh-Melas’ traditionally held at various places has immense importance. 3 crores devotees had holy bath at Prayag during ‘Kumbh-Mela’. ‘Kumbh-Mela’ is a centre of faith for Hindus. Even a country like USA was surprised to see 3 crores devotees having bath at a time. There is no place for  spirituality in democracy; therefore, there is opposition to ‘Kumbh-Mela’. The Government should utilize funds allocated for ‘Kumbh-Mela’ in judicious manner. Alternate security arrangement should be there to prevent mishaps. Festival like ‘Kumbh-Mela’ is not celebrated anywhere in the world; therefore, maximum importance should be given to ‘Kumbh-Mela’. The above views were expressed by Purvanmaya Sri Govardhan Mutt Puri Pithadheeshwar Srimat Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati Maharaj.

A press conference was organized by Hindu Janajagruit Samiti at Vinkar Hall on 26th November between 12.00 and 2.00 p.m. which was addressed by Jagatguru Shankaracharya. 26 reporters of different newspapers and news channels attended the press conference. Swami Nirvikalpanand Saraswati, his personal secretary and Acharya Zamman Shahstri, the Vice President of ‘Puri Peetha Parishada’ were also present on the occasion.

Shankaracharya said,…..

  1. Political parties propagate that riots are instigated in the name of religion. Every riot has political connotations. Riots do not take place in the name of religion. Political parties are instigating political riots to spread venom amongst people as it helps them politically. Political interests are nurtured through violence during holy festivals like ‘Kumbh-Mela’; but it is not right for political parties to do so.
  2. When asked about Shri. Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat becoming Prime Minister of India, he said, “I don’t belong to any political party. Our social system should be cultured, educated, enriched, benevolent and content without any restrictions of power, greed and politics.”
  3. Regarding anti-superstitions Act, he said, “Does the Chief Minister of the State consider himself as spiritual Guru ? He is passing an Act on such subject of which he has no knowledge. Hindu Dharma and culture are complete by themselves at all levels like religious, practical and science; so how can customs and traditions based on them be superstitions ? This Act should not be passed without consulting Dharmacharyas and knowledgeable persons in spirituality.”
  4. About completion of 5 years to terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26th November, he said, “It is first necessary to know about the country which is spreading terrorism and our Prime Minister should take a firm stand in the matter. Terrorism has thrived in this country because of directionless politics and rulers.”

Important statements made by Srimat Shankaracharya …..

  1. Congress and BJP Governments promised to construct Ram- Mandir for their personal interest; but they did not build it. This issue has always been used for political gains.
  2. Both the parties lack mentality and mental strength required for building Ram-Mandir; therefore, it is not yet constructed.
  3. Cleansing of political parties has not been done and it requires revolution to do so.
