Devotee’s money, not for paying off Govt. debts!

Mumbai: Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held demonstrations against proposed anti-Hindu Acts viz. ‘Black Magic’ Act and ‘Temple take-over’ Act near Andheri (West) railway station on 13 th March 07 between 5.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.

41 Hindus participated in the demonstrations. They held banners and explained to people about the anti-Hindu Acts. Many people strongly condemned the Government’s move and agreed that it is time to unite. Some of the people were not aware about the proposed Acts; but as they came to know, they showed interest in participating in HJS activities. Pamphlets were also distributed on proposed anti-Hindu Acts.

A Shiv Sena municipal councilor expressed her views that funds collected by temples should be used only for temple development and only Hindus should be trustees of temples. Money donated by devotees must be used for the convenience and comforts of devotees. A Muslim person also gave his opinion that it is not right to use money collected at temples to pay off Government debts.
