The Central Govt. should declare National mourning on the demise of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Maharaj ! – HJS

Recently, the Indian Government declared national mourning on the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, although she had not contributed in any way to our nation-building. In fact, the British ruled this country for 150 years and inordinately oppressed Indians. Still, the Indian Government declares national mourning on the Queen’s death; however, no such national mourning is declared on the passing away of the highest Dharmaguru of Hindu Dharma, Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Maharaj which is quite unfortunate. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded that the Indian Government should declare national mourning on the demise of the highest Dharmaguru of Hindus and duly honour him.

Mr Ramesh Shinde, the National Spokesperson of HJS has made such a demand by writing letters to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Home Minister Amit Shah. It has been stated in the letter that Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati Maharaj passed away on the 11th of September 2022 at Sri Jhoteshwar Dham in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, at the age of 99 years. Shankaracharya was the highest Dharmaguru of Hindus. He was the Shankaracharya of two ‘Peethas’ viz. Sharada Peetham at Dwaraka and Jyotishpeetha at Badrinath, out of the four ‘Peethas’ founded by Bhagavan Adi Shankaracharya. He left his house at the age of nine years and served Dharma. He learnt ‘Veda-Vedanga’ and other ‘Shaastra’ at Kashi (Uttar Pradesh). He became the best disciple of ‘Dharmasamrat’ Karapatri Maharaj and dedicated his whole life to the protection of God, Dharma, and the nation. At the age of 19 years, he had even joined the freedom fight of India, including the ‘Quit India’ movement started by Mahatma Gandhi against the British in 1942, and was imprisoned for 15 months; nine months at Varanasi and six months in Madhya Pradesh jails. He, therefore, was known as a ‘Revolutionary Sadhu’. His contribution even in the fight for Shriram Mandir is noteworthy.

Mr Shinde also stated on the occasion that if national mourning was not declared in India where Hindus are in majority, where else should we expect it to be declared ? In the past 70 years, the Congress leaders have always insulted Hindus’ Dharmagurus, but now, during the regime of pro-Hindu Modi Government, we hope Dharmagurus would be duly honoured.
