INDIA TV criticizes Astrology and Holy scriptures

Mumbai:  A few days back, discussion session was held on INDIA TV in its program ‘India Bole’ on the topic ‘Mystery of Naag-Mani’. During the discussions, Sanal Idmarco of ‘Rationalists Society’ criticized Astrology and Holy Scriptures like the Vedas, Puranas and Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

His comments enraged the viewers and they fired the Director of the channel and Idmarco. As a result, the channel had to render apology and stop the program. It was noteworthy that although the program was telecast at 1.00 a.m. in the night, viewers called up the channel and condemned the channel and Idmarco.

Idmarco said that Vedas and Puranas do not exist. He did not believe in God, astrology, ghosts etc. The other participants of the program tried to tell him about the incidents in Ramayana and Mahabharata; but Idmarco was firm on his opinions. The viewers, however, objected to his opinions and bombarded him with queries. Idmarco was asked that on what basis, he was expressing such opinions, what right did he have to talk in such manner, what was the proof on which he had formed such opinions.

Many viewers cursed Idmarco and doubted his intellect for having such opinions. Many calls were received by the channel condemning Idmarco and the program. Idmarco then challenged astrologers to prove him wrong and declared a prize of 1 lac rupees on behalf of ‘Ratonalists Society’ to such astrologer. Idmarco, however, did not budge from his opinion. Finally, the channel had to wind up the program due to increasing protest calls from viewrs
