M.F. Husain’s film cancelled from the ‘Third Eye Asian Film Festival’ after HJS’ Protest

Kolhapur (Maharashtra) : ‘Third Eye Asian Film Festival’ has been organised at Shahu Smarak. M.F. Husain’s film, ‘Homage – Through The Eyes Of The Painter’ was going to be screened on Tuesday, 27^th December, at the Festival. But due to strong opposition by pro-Hindus the organisers had to cancel it. (Congratulations to the Hindutvawadis for forcing the organisers to cancel the screening of anti-Hindu M.F. Husain’s film by opposing it ! Such alert Hindus should be there everywhere ! – Editor SP)

The ‘Film Festival’ is organised on behalf of ‘Kalamaharshi Baburao Painter Film Society, Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, Collectorate, Asian Film Society and Rajarshi Shahu Memorial Trust. Selected films at the international level are going be screened at the Festival. Husains film was one of them.

Warning of disrupting the programme if Husain’s film was shown !

Pro-Hindus got the news about the screening of Husain’s film at the Festival. Thereafter under the leadership of Mr. Sambhajirao Salunkhe of Bajrang Dal, Maharashtra West, officials of the Pro-Hindu organisations met the co-ordinator of ‘Kalamaharshi Baburao Painter Film Society’, Mr. Chadrakant Karekar in the morning at 11.30. Mr. Salunkhe said, “Husain had painted vulgar pictures of Hindu Deities purposely. It is very wrong to glorify such perversity. If Husain’s film which has insulted Hindus’ faith is screened then we will disrupt the programme”, he warned.

Mr. Suresh Chavhan of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) said, “Husain has painted Hindu Deities, Bharatmata in nude form but his own daughter is painted as fully dressed. It is not Husain’s extraordinary art but his perverse nature.”

Film cancelled honouring Hindu sentiments !

Mr. Karekar said at that time, “Films are selected for the ‘Asian Film Festival’ at the Central level. We do not select these films. Despite that we have deleted the film from the Film Festival and cancelled its screening at the Festival.”
Mr. Karekar was given a memorandum on behalf of Pro-Hindu organisations.
Proud Hindus like Mr. Mahesh Ursal of Bajrang Dal, Mr. Srikant Potnis, Dist. Co-Minister, VHP, Mr. Shivanand Swami. Mr. Babasaheb Bhople of HJS etc. were present in large numbers.
