HJS effect : Amazon removes Ganesha and OM toilet mat products

Update : Now Amazon has removed all products listed in this article after appeal by HJS through Twitter. However, Amazon has not yet apologised for their mistake.

On 11 January 2020, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti initiated protest against Amazon US for selling Ganesha, OM Bathroom rugs and toilet mats. HJS had also appealed Amazon to remove all products immediately and apologise for their mistake, else Hindus will boycott Amazon, through Twitter.

Soon after this, hashtag #BoycottAmazon started trending in the night and many users asked Amazon to remove products that hurt Hindu sentiments. Soon it became national top trend in India and reached 4th spot for some time. Because of protests by Hindus, it appears that Amazon has removed most of the product listed in the bottom part of this article. However, Amazon has not apologised for its repeated mistake and even 1 product is still available on its website.

Hindus call for boycotting Amazon for selling Ganesha Bathroom rugs and toilet mats

Amazon has been selling products that hurt religious sentiments of Hindus from last few years. After protests from Hindus, Amazon has removed some of these products. But again it has been revealed Amazon still continues such products, thereby ignoring sentiments of Hindus.

Previously, Amazon had also insulted India by selling wrong Indian map (in which J&K is missing) and Tricolor doormats. They were removed after protests by Indians and intervention of the then Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. They are also using images of Buddha and Swarna Mandir on such mats, thereby hurting sentiments of Buddhists and Sikhs.

After protest by Sikh MLA M S Sirsa, Amazon has removed products hurting Sikh sentiments.

Now we appeal Hindus all over the world to ask Amazon to apologise and remove all such products that hurt Hindu sentiments. If Amazon fails to do so, we should initiate movement to Boycott Amazon once for all.
