Court rejects anticipatory bail of writer Ashi Kalim accused of insulting Hindu Deities !

Mumbai : Writer Ashi Kalim had made objectionable statements through ‘Twitter’ regarding Hindus’ Deities. She had made an application for bail before arrest which has been rejected by Dindoshi Sessions Court; therefore, Ashi Kalim can be arrested any time now.

Case has been filed against Ashi Kalim for hurting religious sentiments. In July 2019, Kalim had ‘tweeted’ on her account that ‘Hindus’ worshipped Deity Bhagavan Shrikrushna was a rapist while Shri Durgadevi was referred to as prostitute.’ Objectionable statements were also made against Devi Sita. She had warned Hindus that 1% Muslims had ruled over this country and now they (Muslims) were 20%. Ashi Kalim has made indecent statements about other seats of worship like Radha, Shiva, Brahmadev etc. Advocate Chandani Shah lodged a complaint with Bangurnagar police station at Goregaon on 19th July.

Ashi Kalim’s advocate claimed in Court that her tweet was distorted. He also pleaded that her case should be considered sympathetically since she was a woman. Advocate Chandani Shah argued that in such sensitive matter, Ashi Kalim should be treated as a person rather than as a woman. The Court accepted advocate Shah’s argument and took a decision.
