Jalgaon : Representation was submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and all pro-Hindu organizations demanding to stop illegal trafficking of cows/ cattle and illegal cow-slaughter taking place in Yaval taluka of Jalgaon district since law banning cow-slaughter is implemented in Maharashtra. The representation was submitted to Tehasildar Pawar.

Illegal slaughtering of cow/ cattle is going on openly at many places in the taluka. Incidents of theft of cow/cattle have increased in past few months but necessary help is not given by police. On 9th March 2019, few youth stopped a vehicle illegally transporting cattle and demanded necessary papers required for such transportation. They didn’t have the required papers; therefore, they asked the vehicle to be taken to police station. The youth who had come with the vehicle started arguing with the youth who stopped their vehicle and those youth even called their other associates. Few police reached the place of incident and asked all of them to come to the police station. The vehicle carrying cattle, however, vanished, taking advantage of crowd in market area. Police took no action for their running away. Moreover, police filed case of staging riots against youth who had stopped the vehicle. How are vehicles allowed to go when they are not carrying necessary papers required for transporting cattle. News on this subject has been published in many newspapers and such police inaction is creating suspicion. How was the vehicle allowed to go without checking when necessary papers were also not carried by the concerned persons ? Is police administration working under some pressure? Else are few officers from government administration hands in gloves with cow-traffickers? Such questions have been asked through the representation.

Demands made in representation :

*Illegal slaughter houses operated in Yaval taluka should be closed down and illegal slaughtering of cattle should be stopped. Stringent action should be taken against the slaughterers.

*Cow/ cattle trafficking through Yaval taluka should be stopped and severe action should be taken against cow/cattle traffickers.

*Inquiry should be conducted into the vehicle-owner and concerned persons involved in incident which took place on 9th March and necessary action should be taken against the guilty.

Police Inspector arguing with ‘gou-rakshaks’!

Yaval’s police inspector (PI) came when representation was being submitted by activists on behalf of all organizations and he told the activists that he had checked the vehicle and action taken by him was correct and he started arguing with them. The activists told him that the two young men, against whom cases were filed, didn’t even know each other and the action taken by PI was unjust. They also asked the PI that on what basis, he was filing cases against the two youth. It was reported by police in their report that there was argument between two youth; instead of registering case of illegal transportation of cow/cattle.
