Memorandum submitted to MMC for changing the names by HJS

Mapusa (Goa) : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has submitted a memorandum to Mapusa Muncipal Council (MMC) demanding to name the chowk, next to ‘Vijay Tailor’ as ‘Krativeer Chowk’ and the taxi stand as ‘Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Taxi Stand’. More than 400 proud Hindus have signed this memorandum. Many Hindutvawadi organisations have supported this demand.

The Memorandum states that we got freedom due the sacrifices on the part of the Krantiveers. They gave their life for us but their sacrifice is conveniently forgotten by the ungrateful rulers. There is hardly any mention of these revolutionaries in the prescribed text books for school children. It is the need of the hour that every patriot to remember their sacrifice and to make the present generation aware about it; so that each Bharatiya would remember them ever. Two years back the patriots in Mapusa had named the above chowk (next to ‘Vijay Tailor’) as Krantiveer chowk; but the Government has to support it. It is mentioned in the Memorandum that 23rd March 2011 being the Martyrs’ Day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, the Council should name the said chowk as ‘Krantiveer chowk’. It is also said in the Memorandum that Swatantryaveer V. D. Sawarkar was a great man to be born after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Swatantryaveer Sawarkar was a genius of all those great men who enhanced the national character in the last century. In order to cherish his memory for ever, it is stated in the memorandum that the ever busy taxi stand at Mapusa should be named as ‘Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Taxi Stand’.
