‘Ideal Ganeshotsav’ drive undertaken by HJS at Maharashtra

Sambhajinagar district

Sambhajinagar : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held lectures on various subjects such as malpractices taking place during Ganeshotsav, ideal way of celebrating Ganeshotsav and matters related to protection of nation and Dharma. Short play on awakening of valour (Shauryajagaran) was presented along with demo on self-defence, exhibition on revolutionaries using flex-boards was held; so also exhibition of Sanatan’s books and ‘sattvika’ products at various places in city, at Zalta, Mahuli and Adhul villages. Several Ganesh-devotees and devout Hindus took benefit of the drives undertaken by HJS. Collective chanting was also held at 18 places in the city.  39 devout Hindus and readers of Sanatan periodicals participated in ‘Ideal Ganeshotsav’ drive undertaken by HJS.

Zalta

1. Local youth took out a procession raising slogans before the program comprising of lecture and self-defence demo.

2. Local residents showed interest in HJS holding self-defence training classes on watching demo and were ready to attend training class.

3. Shri. Vikas Shinde, Sachin Murdare, Dnyaneshwar Shinde, Surase, Shri. Samadhan Shinde and other devout Hindus from ‘Dharmashikshan’ class took responsibility of organizing the program.

Adhul

1. ‘Bajarang Ganesh Mandal’, ‘Shivachhatrapati Ganesh Mandal’ and ‘Shivashakti Ganesh Mandal’ jointly organized ‘Shauryajagaran’ play.

2. Shri. Narayan Wagh, Shri. Narendra Wagh, Shri. Akash Pawar and other devout Hindus took initiative in organizing the short play. Devout Hindus from Gevarai village attended the program.

Mahuli

1.Nilkantheshwar Ganesh Mandal had organized ‘Dharmajagruti Sabha’, on small scale, in Nilkantheshwar Mandir area with the initiative of a local devout Hindu named Shri. Vicky Lande.

2. Devout Hindus from the village and Shanishingnapur spontaneously joined the ‘seva’ of arranging exhibition.

Devotees immerse idols in flowing water at Kaygaon Tok

HJS volunteers and Ganesh devotees jointly undertook the drive at Kaygaon Tok for immersion of idols. Every year, devotees throw their idols from a bridge for immersion although there is an immersion-ghat near Shri Rameshwar Mandir.This year, 60% devotees did ritualistic immersion of their idols after awareness was created towards immersion of idols. 7 devout Hindus from Nevasa and Devagad participated in the drive. Sambhajinagar Gramin police extended assistance in the drives.

Feedback

1. Today, immersion was done well since you are here; otherwise, there is only chaos. There is usually huge trash of ‘nirmalya’ so also traffic jam but this year, immersion is taking place in proper manner.

2. It is very unfortunate that awareness has to be created amongst Hindus towards their own big festival like Ganesh festival.

Thane district

Sou. Deeksha Pendbhaje explaining the topic at Ambarnath

Thane : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) undertook a drive to guide people on what is proper way of celebrating festivals as per ‘Dharma-shaastra’ and what is improper. An appeal was also made to devotees advising against idol-donation so as to prevent desecration of Deity.

Sou. Deeksha Pendbhaje of HJS explained the right method of immersion of Ganesh idols during a program held at Mahajanwadi hall. 100 people attended the program. Sou. Kunda Ugale, a reader of Dainik Sanatan Prabhat took initiative in arranging the lecture. Permission was also granted for holding exhibition of books and flex boards with matters related to protection of nation and Dharma.

Ambarnath Municipality had organized a ‘haldi-kumkum’ program on behalf of Ganeshotsav Mandal where Sou. Deeksha Pendbhaje held lecture on ideal Ganeshotsav and malpractices in celebrating this festival.

Kalwa

1. Lecture on ‘Shauryajagaran’ was held by Shri. Prashant Surve of HJS at Amrutangan Colony in Parsiknagar, along with presentation of demos.

2. Flex-boards on ‘Dharmashikshan’ matters were displayed at ‘Gaondevi cha Raja’ and ‘Vakratunda Mandal’ of Khargaon.

‘C Cable’ commends HJS volunteers ! 

Local ‘C Cable’ news interviewed HJS volunteers who were creating awareness amongst devotees at immersion-ghat and commended the drive undertaken by HJS

Sangli : On the day of Anant Chaturdashi, volunteers of HJS created awareness amongst devotees at Krushna-ghat for installing idol made of clay from next year and immersion of idols in flowing water. Few devotees, who were inclined to donate idols, also immersed their idols in flowing water owing to explanation given by HJS volunteers.

Shiv Sena undertakes drive to clean banks of River Krushna !

Sangli :Lot of trash was lying on the bank of River Krushna after immersion of Shri Ganesh idols. There were papers and rice-flakes lying on the bank at many places. On 6th September, under the guidance of Shiv Sena city-Chief Shri. Mayur Ghodake, cleaning operation was carried on at the river-bank in the morning. Shiv Sainiks viz. Shri. Tushar Parmar, Shri. Amol Khot, Shri. Ganesh Pawar and Shri. Sanjay Inje participated in the drive. (Dirtying ghats after immersion of Shri Ganesh idols indicates dire need of ‘Dharmashikshan’ for Hindus ! Idols were seen lying outside river-bed in Sangli due to inadequate water level; but employees of Municipal Corporation and few voluntary organizations later carried those idols inside and immersed them again in water.

Devotees immerse Shri Ganesh idols in flowing water after awareness created by HJS at Baramati !

Baramati (Dist. Pune) : HJS had submitted representation to municipal administration before starting of ‘Ganeshotsav’ explaining importance of immersion of idols in flowing water; still municipality had set up artificial water tanks for immersion of idols; whereas municipality, environmental organization and volunteers of ‘Sakaal’ newspaper were making appeal to devotees for donation of idols. HJS volunteers however, explained the science regarding immersion of idols in flowing water; therefore, most of the devotees preferred to immerse idols in flowing water. HJS volunteers were present at canal near Devi’s temple, Amrai, Bhigavan Chowk etc for creating awareness towards immersion of idols.

Highlights 

  1. Citizens read boards displayed by HJS volunteers about immersion of idols and then decided to immerse idols in flowing water.
  2. Local residents from Malad (Tal Baramati) had brought Ganesh idols for donation but when they were explained science about immersion of idols, they immersed the idols instead of donating and confirmed that they would immerse even ‘nirmalya (stale flowers, leaves etc offered to Deity)’ in the well instead of pot provided by municipality.
  3. Shri. Pramod Pandharpurkar learnt about the science of immersion and then started encouraging people to immerse idols in water.
  4. Few devotees had donated idols. When they were explained the science, they brought back idols kept in municipality van and immersed them in water.
  5. A devout Hindu said that he knew what was done with the idols given in donation. Idols donated last year are still lying and he had their photos; therefore, he was going to immerse Shri Ganesh idol this year.

Town Council’s unscientific acts !

The Town Council had provided an artificial water tank near canal and the idols were dipped in the tank and then kept in municipality van. On some occasion, municipal employees were forcing devotees to donate the idols.

‘Ideal Ganeshotsav Visarjan’ drive at Satara

1. No traffic jam this year due to HJS volunteers’ planning !- Feedback from devotees

HJS volunteers were assisting police in directing vehicular traffic, parking of vehicles etc for the whole day. Thousands of Ganesh idols are immersed at the bank of River Krushna by individuals and public festival committees; but owing to traffic management by HJS volunteers, there was no traffic-jam this year, was the opinion expressed by devotees to HJS volunteers. Many people even thanked HJS volunteers. Police were appealing devotees to follow instructions given by HJS volunteers.

2. Treatment through first-aid Cell 

First-aid Cell was set up under guidance of doctors to provide medical aid to patients. Injured devotees were treated here and they sincerely thanked HJS for extending such service.

3. HJS initiative for protection of environment !

HJS volunteers observed lot of plastic bags, glass pieces etc lying in river bed for many days which were harmful to environment. They therefore, undertook cleaning drive with the help of members of Shivapratishthan Hindustan and Rotary Club of Satara in the area.

4. Information given on loudspeaker about science of worshiping Shri Ganesh

Shri. Mahendra Nikam of HJS explained, on loudspeaker, science of immersion of idols and made devotees chant Shri Ganesh’s name. Many people said that they felt good on hearing the chant.

Feedback on HJS drive 

1. Additional Police Inspector, Subhash Chougule – HJS volunteers are working whole day and doing good job. It is good help to us.

2. Sou. Seema Mutha, Rotary Club Satara – HJS volunteers have been working for whole day with lot of dedication. Such dedication is difficult to find these days. Hats off to your activities !

3. Grampanchayat of Sangam-Mahuli thanked HJS for the service rendered and extended invitation to HJS volunteers for participating in various programs held by Gram panchayat.

Highlights 

1. HJS drive was shown by local ‘Lokvrutta’ Cable channel. Reporters of other local channels like ‘Dinmaan’ and ‘Vruttapatra Sakaal’ compiled the news about HJS drive and commended their work. Sou. Rupa Mahadik of HJS answered the questions asked by reporters on science of Ganeshotsav, preservation of environment and increasing interference by anti-Hindus in Hindus’ festivals. She also made an appeal that Hindus should learn spiritual science for celebrating festivals and celebrate festivals with faith and devotion.

2. Shri. Vilas Kulkarni and Sou. Leela Nimbalkar had set up a stall of Sanatan Sanstha’s ‘sattvika’ products and books.

Assistance

Shri. Ramesh Sabale, Sarpanch of ‘Sangam-Mahuli’ and ‘Gram-sevak’ Shri. Tathe provided sound system as also made arrangements for tea for HJS volunteers.
