Details of defamation of Lord Vishnu

Mumbai: The Information and Public Relations Directorate of Maharashtra Government has published an article in its March – April 2009 issue that ridicules ‘Matsya-incarnation’ of Lord Vishnu. All Hindus are enraged and have demanded a public apology from the Directorate.

A monthly periodical ‘Lok-rajya’ is published by the Information and Public Relations Directorate of Maharashtra Government. In its special issue of March-April 2009 on food culture in Maharashtra giving information on various types of cooking and food habits including vegetarian and non-vegetarian, popular in different parts of Maharashtra so also views of eminent personalities on this food culture.

An article by Shri. Girish Gokhale has been published on page 44 of this issue, under the heading ‘The First Incarnation of God’ wherein he has mentioned experiences during his stay in Ratnagiri related to food items made of fish. He has written that although he or his children were not new to eating of food that was supposed to be ‘taboo’, he was not much acquainted with the first incarnation of God i.e. ‘Matsya’ incarnation. (Anyone and everyone make mockery of Hindu deities because Hindus are over tolerant (impotent). Will Gokhale dare to ridicule objects worshipped by followers of other paths? And even if, he did, would Maharashtra Government dare to publish the same? – Editor)
