Chaitra Krushna Panchami

Introduction

Madanlal Dhingra a lion hearted brave son of Punjab was born on 18th September 1883. Dhingra went to London on 10 June 1906 for higher studies, which is just before a month Sawarkar arrived there. Dhingra got in contact with Sawarkar and confederated in Sawarkar’s revolutionary action for freedom. With Sawarkar’s inspiration 100 year of 1857 freedom fight start was celebrated in London. Dhingra went to college wearing the badge which was made as a symbol of that celebration. When a British guy wanted to snatch his badge he ran to him with a knife in hand. One day in India House which is an asylum for Indian revolutionaries in a bomb making session he handled a hot glass container containing chemical in it with barely hands(without wearing anything) without any scare which prevented a big mishap. In this his skin gets burnt but he didn’t utter a single word. Just to prove that Hindus are brave enough he pricked through his hand with pin.

Eagerness to take revenge of injustice

On 11th August 1908 Khudiram Bose and later on Kanhaiyalal Datt and Satendra Bose were hanged, that time Dhingra got very restless to take revenge. That time he asked Sawarkar is this a right time to die for our motherland. The answer is very famous that is, "if you are ready for the highest sacrifices and your mind has think about final emancipation then definitely this is the right time to die for the Nation."

After he assassinated Karzan Vaily who was working there in Indian Embassy and terrified Indian Students who were studying there. For this Dhingra took license for the revolver and took admission in rifle shooting class. And very soon after that Dhingra became very expert in 18 Feet rifle shooting. Meanwhile Sawarkar’s elder brother was arrested for publishing four patriotic poems, also Sawarkar was refused to give certificate of Barristerate. Now Dhingra was just waiting for the right time to take revenge.

A UK based organization called ‘National Indian Association’ celebrated their first anniversary on 1st July 1909 and Dhingra decided to go for that celebration. That night he wore just a casual suit and took two revolvers and one dagger with him. Karzan Vaily was the treasurer of that organization. So Dhingra got to get very close to him.

At 11 pm every one was about to go back to their houses. Karzan Vaily was also moving towards the gate. While talking they came to the main entrance of that auditorium. Dhingra was purposely speaking in a very low voice, and to hear that when Karzan Vaily came close to him he shoot him on point blank. Vaily was just collapsing and Dhingra fired two more bullets toward him. And Karzan Vaily was cold dead. On 17 August 1909 Dhingra was hanged. Dhingra was just 25, when he came to UK. His body was not even given to his family for funeral. We salute our brave heart national hero who did scarify his life for his country. He was the first revolutionary to assassinate high ranked British officer in Britain’s capital itself.
