Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra – An 11-R plot of land located at Gat No. 844/A/1 B in Hupari is officially reserved as government gairan (grazing) land. Following the removal of an illegal madrasa built by the Muslim Sunnat Jamiat, local administrative authorities had reclaimed and secured possession of the parcel. However, the Muslim Sunnat Jamiat has once again formally petitioned the government seeking the allocation of this same plot to construct an ‘Islamic Centre.’
Concurrently, the local police department has formally requested the land from the government to develop essential residential and operational facilities for personnel and officers of the Hupari Police Station.
Against this backdrop, the Sakal Hindu Samaj submitted a memorandum to the Additional Tehsildar of Ichalkaranji, urging the administration not to allocate the plot for an Islamic Centre under any circumstances. Administrative Officer Chandrakant Kalge accepted the representation on behalf of the tehsildar.
On this occasion, Shri. Nitin Kakade of Hupari, Vice-President of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Shri. Ramesh Bhore, and others were present.
The representation states that the said property is government land and, according to Rule 9 of the ‘Maharashtra Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Industrial Townships (Transfer of Immovable Property) Amendment Rules, 2025’ of the Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra, it cannot be allocated for any religious purpose. Therefore, the representation demands that this land should be provided for the facilities of police personnel who ensure the safety and security of the town.
