Representation submitted to senior Police Inspector, Malad Police Station

Mumbai: ‘National Flags’ made of plastic and paper are used on a large scale on Independence Day and Republic Day; but these flags are later found lying on the roads and gutters in torn condition after hoisting ceremony. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been carrying on this movement for many years now. In this connection, HJS submitted a representation to the senior Police Inspector, M D Rathod of Malad Police Station. He assured to HJS members that necessary cooperation would be extended to this laudable drive of HJS.

A notice was issued with the joint efforts of HJS and Malad (West) cooperative Housing Society Residents Welfare Association that ‘Denigration or mockery of the National Flag is a punishable offence and legal action can be taken against the concerned.’ The notice has been signed by the senior Police Inspector. Mr. Rathod and Shiv Sena’s Mr. Ashok Patel and Mr. Yashwant Rane have taken the responsibility of displaying 100 copies each of the above notice on the notice boards of different housing societies and at important places. Mr. Rathod gave his personal contact number and asked to immediately report to him any such incident or sale of plastic flags so that he would raid such place and confiscate all plastic flags.
