PMDS should cancel its decision of using temple funds for social activities

Demand of ‘Shri Mahalakshmi Devasthan anti-corruption Kruti Samiti’ through a representation

Kolhapur :  ‘Pashchim Maharashtra Devasthan Vyavasthapan Samiti (PMDS)’ should cancel its decision of using temple funds for social activities was the demand made through a representation submitted on behalf of ‘Shri Mahalakshmi Devasthan Vyavasthapan Bhrashtachar-virodhi Kruti Samiti (action committee)’ to Dy. District Collector Sanjay Shinde on 19th April. He promised to convey sentiments of ‘Hindutvavadis’ to the Government. ‘Patit Pavan Sanghatana’s District President Sunil Patil, its Vice President Akash Navarukhe, Shri Shivapratishthan’s city-Chief Sharad Mali, Shri. Rajeev Ghodake, Shiv Sena’s Dy. District-Chief Shri. Sambhaji Bhokare and volunteers of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti viz. Madhukar Nazare, Kiran Duse, Shivananda Swami etc were some of the ‘Hindutvavadis’ present on the occasion.

‘Devasthan Samiti’s Joint Secretary Shivaji Salvi was also given representation with the same demands by action- committee.

It has been stated in the representation that

1. PMDS has made provision of Rs. 2 crores in its budget for the year 2017-18 for social activities.

2. The money offered by devotees in temples should be used for religious purpose; for spreading spirituality and for repairs and maintenance of temples; but using such fund for social causes is defeating the purpose of giving such donation.

3. Funds are made available for social causes at Government-level so also through other means; but donations given by devotees in temples should be used only for religious activities.

Increase in cost of ‘laddus-prasad’

Kolhapur : The cost of laddus available as ‘prasad’ in ‘Karveer-nivasini’ Shri Mahalakshmidevi Mandir has been increased by Rs.2/-; from Rs. 8/- to Rs. 10/- since the cost of gram-daal has gone up.
