Bhiwandi : Demolition of Saibaba temple stopped due to opposition by Hindus

Bhiwandi : Officers and staff of MMRDA had gone to Vadunavaghar in Bhiwandi taluka for demolishing Saibaba Temple; but Hindus got the wind of it and enraged Hindus immediately came on streets to strongly protest against action proposed to be taken for demolition of  this temple. Devout women were present in large number. The local residents have taken a stand that they would not oppose to demolition of temples which are in the way of public projects; but if the State Government tries to demolish temples which are not causing any kind of obstacles, only out of malice, they would oppose with all their might. MMRDA’s officers left the scene considering the aggressiveness of enraged local residents.

Local residents are accusing MMRDA administration of targeting only Hindus’ temples when there are prayer houses of followers of all religions in the area. The temples were built in Bhiwandi taluka by taking permission of local Gram Panchayats before MMRDA administration took over. Temples are symbols of Hindus’ faith. Advocate Ganesh Kabukar told reporters that MMRDA should think about people’s sentiments before taking action against temples.
