Prema Designs (USA) withdraws products denigrating Hindu Deities after HJS protest

Hindus need to offer gratitude at the feet of Bhagavan Shrikrushna for this success !

Pictures of Hindu Deities, Shri Ganesh and Bhagavan Shiva were printed on the leggings of a company named Prema designs from USA with business of online sales. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) wrote a letter to the company demanding immediate withdrawal of such clothing to prevent insult of Deities because the clothes are thrown anyhow after wearing. Hindus were appealed to register protest in lawful manner. Many ‘Hindutvavadis’ registered their protest through emails and ‘Twitter’ etc as a result, Prema Designs has withdrawn from market, leggings with pictures of Hindu Deities.

Online shopping portal Prema designs denigrates Hindu Deities by printing them on leggings

We at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) have received several complaints from devout Hindus regarding the way various revered Hindu Deities including Shri Ganesh and Shiv and the use of Yoga Asanas (poses) are printed on various clothing products such as leggings on “prema designs” shopping portal: http://www.premadesignsonline.com/apps/search?q=leggings

Please note that there are two companies with same name as Prema Designs. So please take care while protesting as

1 .If you are protesting on twitter use @prema_designs (this twitter handle has a ‘lotus’ logo) and not @premadesigns

2. If you are protesting via mailing, use email as – ‘[email protected]‘ and not ‘[email protected]

Please see below the images of “Shri Ganesh” and “Shiv” on Leggings (The appeal letter explaining the denigration is published towards the end of this page.) –

Upon reviewing the clothing items, HJS team immediately notified and appealed to the owners of the business requesting them to remove the denigrating products on which Hindu Deities and Yoga Asanas are printed. In the appeal, HJS explained how printing of the Hindu Deities wrongly on clothing products for increasing sales and profits are not only hurting the sentiments of Hindus but also setting a wrong precedence for others to follow the unrighteous path and sadly society will be deprived from knowing the importance and significance of the Hindu Deities. The appeal letter also clarified that once the clothing is worn out, it will be thrown in a dustbin thus, resulting in mockery of the Deities.

The HJS team has not received any response from the ‘prema designs’ management team. Consequently, HJS now requests all readers to appeal against this appalling denigration peacefully and lawfully by either writing an email or calling the number below requesting to remove the denigrating clothing items from their http://www.premadesignsonline.com/apps/search?q=leggings shopping portal and not to make such denigrating products in the future.

|| Shree ||

Namaskar,

We at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) have received several complaints from devout Hindus regarding the sale of various clothing products having revered Hindu Deities Shri Ganesh and Shiv printed on them and also the use of Yoga Asanas (poses) printed sloppily on “prema designs” shopping portal: http://www.premadesignsonline.com/store/c3/Clothing.html

We have reviewed your shopping portal for the above-mentioned products which includes performance leggings and would like to bring to your immediate attention how these leggings’ designs are denigrating Hindu Deities, and Hindu Yoga traditions and are not in accordance with the Hindu Shaastra (spiritual science as per the Hindu scriptures). There is divine energy associated with chanting of mantras and performing Yoga Asanas which helps a seeker to progress spiritually.

Using the revered Hindu deities loosely on apparel as artwork is not only hurting the sentiments of Hindus but also trivializing them. This will set a wrong example for others and society will unknowingly be a part of this denigration. To explain more according to the science of spirituality, the clothes are folded, bent and wrinkled when worn, and once the clothes are used, the faded, soiled and worn out clothing will be thrown into a dustbin and from there they will eventually end up in a civic dumping ground, resulting in gross denigration. The pictures of Deities too will fold, bend and wrinkle, thus, the sanctity of Shri Ganesh and Shiv will not be maintained and preserved during these practices. Hindus treat their divine Deities and holy symbols (“Om”) with utmost reverence and devotion. Also, the aim of Yoga is Moksha (liberation) and it has many facets in Hindu philosophy. But when Yoga Asanas are designed for fashion in a spiritually unscientific way, it dilutes Adhyatma Vidya (Inner Science) of Yoga which are a universal teaching to humankind.

The commercialization of Hindu Deities and Yoga is a cheap way to boost sales.

The sanctity of the Hindu Deity’s images can be maintained only in the puja (ritualistic worship) room, in an altar or in other similar sattvik (pure) places. Hindus worship Shri Ganesh prior to commencing any ritual or an auspicious act. Also, showing the Deities in any form other than as in the Hindu Scriptures leads to inaccurate presentation of the respective deities, and it denigrates and trivializes Them. In the minds of the buyer, a fictional image of the Deities will form over a period and hence, it will obstruct the development of their faith in the Deities, which is most important in worshipping them and experiencing Their Divine presence and blessings.

We urge you to consider the above points and remove the various denigrating clothing items, which are not in accordance with Hinduism from your website. We stress that our aim in bringing up these points is to educate and ensure that Hindu Deities and Hinduism gets accurately represented in society. Hinduism has been misrepresented and misappropriated at many levels. Though it is an ancient tradition, Hinduism has a lot to offer the modern world and we want children and adults alike to be able to understand and study it without it being misrepresented or misappropriated. You can take one step towards ensuring that Hindu Deities and Hinduism does not get disrespected by removing the denigrating images from your products and stop selling them.
