Issue of ignoring history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj : HJS demand to change the syllabus for History

Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra): A representation signed by about 1000 people with a demand to change the syllabus of History subject for 7th standard was submitted to Upper District Collector Mr. Mugalikar by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) as there was just a passing refernce of the great history of Chhatrapati Shivaraya and glorification of history of the Mughal invaders in the said book. Mr. Mugalikar was surprised to hear about the book of NCERT and assured that he would take proper action at his level as also convey the feelings in the matter to his seniors.

It has been mentioned in the representation that in the text book set by NCERT for the subject of ‘History’, out of the 154 pages in the book, most of the pages are devoted to description of Mughal invaders and Muslim kings whereas the entire history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who fought with the Mughals to establish Hindvi Swaraj has been explained in just 6 lines. This is injustice done to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. HJS first brought this matter to the notice of the people and staged agitation in Goa compelling the Goa Government to change the book. In Maharashtra, however, insult of Chhatrapati Shivaraya continues. HJS has, therefore, warned that intense agitations will be held if such insult is not stopped and if the syllabus at the Central and State levels is not changed immediately.

Mr. Neelesh Nagre, Prakash Snehsagar, Rajat Mule, Amit Jaiswal, Pawar, Joshi, Tarate, Swanand Patil, Kishor Tezad and other HJS members were present on the occasion.
