Bagalkot (Karnataka): Police today lathicharged a crowd during a protest organised by Hindu outfits against desecration of idols in a temple by some unidentified persons in Guledagudda in the district today, officials said.

Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the town for today as tension prevailed, but the situation was under control, police said.
