Huge protest march against delay of 2 decades in erecting statue of Shivaji Maharaj

Statue can be erected in 2 months if all make united efforts ! – Sunil Ghanavat, HJS, State Coordinator

Bhusaval (Dist Jalgaon) : Name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been given to the Town Council Hall; but why a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cannot be erected in the town ? Now, however, Hindus have taken up the matter and statue will be erected in 2 months. If there is political will, statue can be erected even in a day. Henceforth, we should raise slogan of voting for such party in Bhusaval that would not just talk about Hindus’ interests but would act in Hindus’ interests. The above views were expressed by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, the Maharashtra State Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) during march taken out by more than 2000 devout Hindus on 2nd June 2016 to protest against delay in erecting statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

When Shri. Ghanavat asked who would come on the street and unite for Maharaj if nobody takes initiative in erecting a statue, all youth members raised their hands enthusiastically. He gave a warning to start State-wide movement if the statue was not erected within 2 months. It needs to be found out that who gave permission for giving name of Tipu Sultan to the Chowk. Next march will be taken out to District Collector’s office if no attention is paid to this matter.

The march was started with worshiping Bhagavan Shrikrushna and Bhusaval’s ‘Gram-devata’ Shri Marimata; followed with blowing of conch. Sanatan Sanstha’s Saint ‘Pujya’ Nandkumar Jadhav did ‘puja’ of ‘Dharma-dhvaj’. 8-feet equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was carried on a vehicle during the march. Many devout Hindus were carrying saffron flags, banners and posters etc. in the march. They were raising slogans acclaiming Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jayatu Jayatu Hindu Rashtram’. Whole Bhusaval town reverberated with the slogans. The march was concluded in front of Town Council.

Revive history of Chhatrapati’s bravery ! – ‘Pujya’ Nandkumar Jadhav

History of bravery shown by Chhatarpati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of ‘Hindvi Swaraj’ needs to be revived. It is a matter of shame for people of Bhusaval that the issue has been kept pending for so many years. Why did we keep quiet for so long. He made an appeal to increase our unity for solving this issue.

Permission was refused for statue under the guise of survey ! – Vishwanath Patil, Shiv Sena

Shri. Vishwanath Patil, former member of Zilha Parishada and who has been working hard for installation of statue said, “In 1997, a resolution was passed by Town Council about installation of such statue. The matter was followed up from 2001 to 2006. In January 2004, the Government stipulated two conditions that the statue should be taken care of, preserved and law and order should be maintained. In 2015, the District Collector refused permission for erecting statue giving reason as it has been pending for 15 years; therefore, a fresh survey should be undertaken. This issue has been used only for political gains resulting in inordinate delay. Now, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has united Hindus on this issue and I thank them for the same.”

Municipal councilor, Shri. Nirmal Kothari said that efforts would be made to install the statue within 2 months; no political interference would be tolerated. He also assured to extend help in raising funds for the same. Shiv Sena city-Chief Shri. Mukesh Gunjal said that Shiv Sena would erect the statue in its style if permission was not granted.

Shri. Yuvaraj Lonari, Vice Chairman of the Town Council said that HJS had managed to bring together Hindus on this issue. He felt sorry that the statue could not be installed during his regime; but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the identity of this country and he was with the people, as a worker in this drive.

Kum. Pratiksha Korgaonkar of ‘Ranaragini’ Division said that if nobody took initiative in 19 days on this issue, take your Hindu municipal councilors to task who ask for your votes in the forthcoming elections of Town Council, show them their place and tell them that you wouldn’t vote for them.

Later, delegation of HJS met Mayor Akhtar Pinjari. He asked for forgiveness for not installing the statue in his regime. He said that 60% of the work related to statue was complete; but District Collector’s permission was not there. He would personally look into the matter; else he would go on hunger strike. Town Council would post two guards for taking care of the statue for 24 hours and mesh will be fitted around the statue for its protection. He said that he would also join the protest march to be taken to District Collector’s office.
