Save Goa from getting branded as ‘Rape Capital’, demands Ranaragini division of HJS

Issue of Nigerian citizen raping a woman

ranraginiPanaji : Goa is known as Gods’ land. Do not make it ‘Rape Capital’ by handing it over to casinos and foreign nationals only for financial gain and let the sisters from Goa not face such oppression again. The above appeal was made by Sou. Rajashree Gadekar of Ranaragini Division promoted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). Progressive factions are lauding women entering only temple-sanctum, in the name of equal rights for men and women and freedom for women; but nobody seems to be concerned about women’s safety. Immoral businesses like casinos, liquor and drugs trafficking etc. get open support here then how can women be safe? BJP Government of Goa should take action against foreign nationals staying in Goa in unauthorized manner and there should be a curb over such activities. Ranaragini Division of HJS published a press release with the above demands.

It has been further stated in the press release that the State Government and police didn’t seem to have any guts. Tarun Tejpal, a journalist from Delhi comes to Goa and tries to rape a lady journalist of about his daughter’s age and later gets released on bail so as to freely move in society with head held high. Foreign tourists come to Goa and have ‘revv’ parties, consuming drugs; tease women and they have now started even raping women. As if these incidents were not enough, a MLA who had attacked a police station in Goa, is now involved in rape-case of a minor girl. From whom should we expect severe action against such criminals ?

Such incident has maligned Goa’s image at national as well as international level and the State Government needs to pay serious attention to such issues. Declaration of only ‘Nirbhaya Fund’ will not suffice but efforts should be made that no woman becomes ‘Nirbhaya’ in future; else such rapists should be handed over to Ranaragini Division, is the demand made by Ranaragini Division of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
