Rashtriya Hindu Andolan staged demonstrations at Mapusa, Goa

Protect  Goa’s culture by making Goa ‘casino free’, make enquiries of Congress leaders with regards to terrorist Ishrat Jahan’s case

Mapusa : Demonstrations were staged under the banner of the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan on 12th March, at the main gate of Mapusa Municipal Market  to protect Goa’s culture by making Goa ‘casino free’. Various disturbing issues were discussed.

Demands were made to make enquiries of Congress leaders forcing others to give false information in the affidavit of the court regarding the terrorist Ishrat Jahan case, punishing all responsible for it very severely and releasing the innocent police officers from the false allegations made in the case; demanding to make enquiries about the murders of Hindu leaders by socialists and fanatics and the conspiracy of those attacks by the central investigation agencies; permanently removing ‘Ajans’ on mosques which shout slogans in favour of terrorists when Bharatiya soldiers were fighting terrorists in Kashmir and demanding to cancel the Padmabhushan Award to be to be conferred upon Dr. Yarallagada Laxmi Prasad, the writer of the distorted novel ‘Draupadi’. This movement was a part of the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan which was staged all over the nation.

The demonstrations commenced with blowing of the conch shell after offering a coconut to the Deity of that area. In the beginning, Shri. Tulshidas Ganjekar gave an introduction explaining the purpose of the movement.
Thereafter devout Hindu speakers addressed the gathering stressing that casinos encourage an attitude of gambling and so driven with an urge to earn fast money people get addicted to gambling. People who lose everything they possess while gambling are likely to commit suicide. Our youth, our future generation, is being wrongly influenced and is thus heading towards destruction. Gambling gives a boost to malpractices like prostitution, drinking to get intoxicated, teasing women etc. This trend gives way to the use of false currency, black money. A law and order situation is created due to an increase in crimes.

Goa which is known as ‘The Land of the Gods’ is losing its traditions and culture. Therefore the changes that were made in the ‘Gambling Prevention Act of 1976’ to give permission to casinos in the sea and in hotels should be cancelled, the licenses given to the casinos should not be renewed, new casinos should not be permitted.

Just as there is a ban on the advertisements of liquors and cigarettes, the advertisements of casinos should also be banned as per the ‘Gambling Prevention Act of 1976’, such were the demands made in the movement.
Shri. Satyavijay Naik placed all these resolutions before all those who had gathered there.
