Agitation against ‘Maharashtra Eradication of Black Magic and Evil and Aghori Practices Act 2005’

Varkari Sect along with Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been engaged in strong agitations against ‘Maharashtra Eradication of Black Magic and Evil and Aghori  Practices Act 2005’ since last few years. They had even warned the government that, ‘So long as the government is not canceling the said Act, no palanquins of honourable Saints would go to Pandhrpur’.

As a result of this warning Shri. Babanrao Pachpute, Forest Minister had to come to the venue of the ‘Wari’(regular practice of going on pilgrimage) to assure the Varkaris that, ‘No further action would be taken on the Act till the matter is discussed by them. Since last 5 years this Act is not passed due to the strong opposition by Varkaris.

Successful agitation against the project of ‘Dow’ Company for polluting the atmosphere and hurting the feelings of proud Hindus

The government had permitted ‘Dow’ Company to raise the project on a mountain called Bhamchandra situated on the banks of Indrayani and Chadrabhaga rivers. Varkaris demanded from Congress government that the project not to be undertaken on the holy mountain as it was treaded by Saint Tukaram in His times and was revered by the Varkaris. Since there was no reply from the government they started agitating everywhere Varkaris had organized ‘Rasta Band’ agitation by ‘Morcha’, on 6.9.2008 When government did not pay any heed to that H.B.P. Bandatatya Karadkar destroyed ‘Dow’s office and was arrested by the government.

There was tremendous agitation all over Maharashtra, against the arrest of H.B.P. Bandatatya Karadkar and ‘Dow’ Company on 23. 9.2008. There were Morchas at Kalyan, Sambhajinagar. Pune-Satara highway was blocked. Symbolic ‘One day fasting’ organized under the leadership of Prof. Sunil Dhond, Shivsena. Pune-Banglore Highwat too was blocked by more than 300 Varkaris. Saints, Kirtankars, Shivsainiks and other Hindutvawadi organizations had participated spontaneously in the agitation. Finally Haribhaktaparayan Bandatatya Karadkar had to be released and cancel the ‘Dow’ project.

Anti-Hindu Anand Yadav had to resign from the Chairmanship of the Literary Conference!

Shri. Anand Yadav had written a book, ‘Santsurya Tukaram’ in which he had written something denigrating Saint Tukaram Maharaj. Receiving news regarding it the Varkaris demanded to take back the book. Yadav tried to defend himself; but furious Varkaris demanded his resignation and removal of the book and also warned him that they would start ‘Kirtan’ at the venue of the conference. This demand was successful as Yadav had to resign from the Chairmanship.

Middle and High-school Committee of Maharashtra State had to apologize for denigrating Saint Tukaram Maharaj! 

Question paper of subject Marathi of 10th Std. examination of 2007 had denigrating matter regarding Saint Tukaram Maharaj. In order to oppose it Varkari sect agitated demanding apology from the committee. Shri. Kalpande, the then president of the committee, was smeared with black colour. Finally they had to apologize.

Chief Minister ready to take action against Anti-Dharma literature!

Varkari had demanded recently to ban the objectionable literature of anti-Dharmis M.M. Deshmhkh, Shrimant Kokate, Purushotam Khedekar, A.H. Salunkhe. For that they warned that the Palnquins of honorable Saints would not be taken to Pandharpur. So the Chief Minister gave an order to Directorate of Public relations to take action on the objectionable writing.

Agitation against N.C.E.R.T.

Varkari sect had joined the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Hindutvawadi organisatyions and political parties supporting ‘Dharne’ agitation for canceling the 7th Std. Distorted History book at ‘Azad Maidan’, Mumbai.
