Dr. Durgesh Samant

Reston (USA): In a program called ‘Namaste’ broadcast on ‘Salaam Namaste’ channel, Dr. Durgesh Samant, ‘Dharma-sanghatak’ of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) was interviewed through ‘Conferencing’ facility. In this interview, Dr. Krushna Puttaparthi, chief organizer of pro-Hindu programs for the organization known as ‘Sanatan Dharma Foundation (SDF)’, Shri. Rajesh Cherukupalli, its member and Mrs. Bhavana Shinde, advisor of ‘Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA)’ also took part. The program was hosted by Shri. Gopal Ponangi, manager SDF. Dr. Samant spoke on various topics like Hindu unity, attacks on Hindu Dharma and ‘Dharma’- education etc. His interview was found quite motivating by Hindus in U.S. to follow the path as prescribed in Dharma. SDF started ‘Namaste’ program on ‘Salaam Namaste’ radio channel from the year 2007 which is broadcast on every Saturday between 7.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. on the topic of ‘Sanatan Dharma’.

Interviews are conducted in this program of different organizations, eminent personalities and pro-Hindu leaders from all over the world. In this program, Dr. Samant explained about various activities undertaken by HJS. He also gave details of Dharma-jagruti sabhas (meetings) held by HJS in India, the awakening among Hindus created due to these ‘sabhas’, different campaigns like ‘Stop denigration of Indian Flag’ on the occasion of national festivals like Republic Day, opposing celebration of Valentine’s Day, propagation of ‘Dharma’ through Sree Shankara channel etc. He also spoke about the drive undertaken by HJS against NCERT for giving false and distorted data in History text books, positive response received in Goa to this drive, besides, information on Holi festival falling on 10th March this year, things to be done and avoided during the celebration of this festival etc.  Mrs. Bhavana Shinde gave details of the website ‘Forum for Hindu Awakening’. Shri. Gopal Ponangi, the Manager of SDF and the host of the program, had interviewed Dr. Durgesh Samant in December 2008.
        
‘Hindu Sanghatan Day’ will be celebrated in USA on behalf of SDF. Representatives of various Hindu organizations will attend the function. Dr. Krushna Puttaparthi extended an invitation to Dr. Samant to attend the said function. Dr. Samant informed that a representative of HJS will attend the function.
