Sriram Sena’s movement for Hindus to get opportunity of ‘puja’ at Datta-Peetha at Chikkamangaluru

It is very unfortunate that in a country where Hindus are in majority, they have to stage movement for performing ‘puja’ in temples ! Has anyone heard of Muslims from Pakistan staging agitation for their demands ? In such situation, what is wrong if Hindus demand Hindu Rashtra adhering to the Constitution ?

Chikkamangaluru : On 25th October, ‘Dattamala Abhiyan’ was undertaken under leadership of Shri. Pramod Mutalik, President of Sriram Sena demanding that Hindus should be allowed to perform ‘puja’ at Datta-Peetha. It was the tenth year of this ‘Abhiyan (movement). ‘Datta-Maladhari’ from different parts of the State were present on the occasion; besides 24 ‘Naga-Sadhus’ invited from Ayodhya. Activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti from Hassan and Chikkamangaluru also took active part in the movement.

Shri. Mutalik said while addressing the ‘Datta-Maladharis’, “The Government, which is celebrating Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary, is trying to destroy Datta-Peetha. If ‘Datta-Peetha’ is taken away from Hindus, that will lead to its destruction. It is very shameful that birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan who terrorized more than 10 lakh Hindus to convert at the point of sword, is going to be celebrated.” Advocate Amrutesh said that case would be filed in High Court to save Datta-Peethas’.

Highlights

  1. District Administration did not open the lock on door going towards ‘Puja-Mandap’. As a result, it had to be broken by devout Hindus and they condemned the District Administration for the same.
  2. ‘Naga-Sadhus’ were not allowed to go in the cave for ‘puja’; so they were displeased.
  3. Local Administration prevented devotees going on the hill from taking fruits and coconuts etc.
  4. Vehicles were not allowed to go from the city as a result, ‘Datta-Maladhari’ had to wait from 5.00 a.m. till 12 noon.
