This is happening due to takeover of temple by Govt ! If administration of temple is given to true devotees of the God, such mistakes will not happen ! – Editor, HJS

LaddooTirumala : Barely three days after the new executive board of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) was announced, a devotee was shocked to find a keychain ring in one of the laddus sold as prasadam by the temple administration.

The laddu in which the iron ring was found was among those purchased by Balaji, a student and resident of Balajinagar in Tirupati. “My nephew Balaji brought us a few laddus on Wednesday night. However, we were shocked to see the keychain ring inside a laddu. I informed the same to the media on Thursday,” Karanam Prasad Naidu, a Venkateswara University employee and Tirupati resident, told TOI.

Naidu charged the TTD administration with negligence. “Not sure whether they will take steps to ensure that such incidents are prevented, I alerted the media,” he said. Late on Thursday, TTD vigilance officials enquired from Naidu the details of the laddu purchase, including the token and the counter numbers.

This is not the first time such unwelcome items have surfaced in the laddus. In the previous incidents, nuts and bolts, paan masala, thread etc, were found mixed in the laddu. TTD sells about 2 lakh laddus a day. Incidentally, the Tirupati laddu has secured the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. When asked about the incident, newly appointed TTD chairman Chadalavada Krishnamurthy said he is yet to take oath and that he would ensure that such incidents do not recur.
