HJS-Led complaint forces cancellation of Nasif Akhtar comedy show in Bengaluru

History of derogatory jokes on Hindu Dharma, India, Prabhu Shri Ram, and Hindu Rashtra in previous shows

Bengaluru, Karnataka – In a major victory for Hindu unity, a stand-up comedy performance by Nasif Akhtar, scheduled for 8 March at the ‘Ministry of Comedy’ venue in Koramangala, Bengaluru, has been cancelled. The cancellation followed swift objections from pro-Hindu organisations after it emerged that the comedian had made derogatory remarks in his previous shows about India, Hindu Dharma, Prabhu Shri Ram, the slogan “Jai Shri Ram”, and the concept of Hindu Rashtra, thus deeply hurting Hindu religious sentiments.

On 7 March 2026, Shri. Mohan Gowda, Karnataka State Spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, sent a formal written request to the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, and the Bengaluru City Police, urging the immediate cancellation of the event. The letter specifically highlighted the risk of disturbing public peace and communal harmony and called for action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 196 and 299.

Also, activists from the ‘Hindu Rashtra Samanvaya Samiti’ too visited the Koramangala Police Station and lodged an official complaint on the matter.

Following these complaints and sustained police engagement, the show was called off. Nasif Akhtar released a video statement announcing the cancellation of his Bengaluru performance.

Shri. Mohan Gowda later shared a video announcing the cancellation as a “victory for the united voice of Hindus”.
