‘Jai Shree Ram Chants’ at India-Pakistan match ‘A New Low’ – Udhayanidhi Stalin

Sharing a video of crowds chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as a Pakistani cricketer walks by during the India-Pakistan World Cup match in Ahmedabad, Tamil Nadu minister and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin described it as “a new low.” He stated that using sports as “a tool to spread hatred is condemnable.”

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the DMK leader wrote, “India is renowned for its sportsmanship and hospitality. However, the treatment meted out to Pakistan players at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is unacceptable and a new low. Sports should be a unifying force between countries, fostering true brotherhood. Using it as a tool to spread hatred is condemnable.”

BJP spokesperson Guarav Bhatia, meanwhile, said, “The hateful dengue malaria mosquito has come out again to spread poison. When a match is stopped and namaz is offered on the field then you remain silent. Our Lord Shri Ram resides in every corner of the universe, so say Jai Shri Ram.”

Why was Udayanidhi Stalin remain silent on this ?

After Pakistan’s victory against Sri Lanka in the World Cup cricket tournament, Pakistani player, Rizwan, performed namaaz on the field. Other times also Pakistani players are doing this. Rizwan also dedicated this victory to the people of the Gaza Strip. (Why Udayanidhi Stalin didn’t ask what Rizwan’s actions have to do with sports? – Editor)
