Demand made by HJS with Maharashtra CM for ban on religious conversions !

CM’s positive response to Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s delegation

Incidents of conversion of tribal women have come to light in Ahmednagar district, after earlier such incidents in Dahanu in Palghar district. A bishop was openly claiming to cure serious ailments recently at Sambhajinagar in a ‘Changai Sabha’. These incidents of attempts to convert are just a tip of an iceberg, and they are taking place in large numbers in the State in a clandestine manner. During the Congress regime in the State, there were incidents of young women and girls going missing when a committee was formed under the retired Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari. On the 29th of November 2014, this committee recommended the passing of a law banning religious conversions. Now, the State should immediately implement the recommendations and pass a stringent law in the State banning religious conversions. A delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) met the Chief Minister Eknathji Shinde for this demand. The CM responded positively. In the press conference held at ‘Mumbai Patrakar Sangh’ by HJS, the above information was given by Mr Sunil Ghanavat, the State Coordinator of HJS for Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The press conference was also attended by Dr Vijay Jangam, the executive President o‘Akhil Bharatiya VeerShaiva Lingayat Mahasangh, Mrs Nayana Bhagat, the Spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha and HJS’ Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad district-coordinator Sagar Chopdar.

Mr Ghanavat said further that, a lot of such ‘Changai Sabhas’ are being held all over the State promising people of vision for a blind, a lame person starting to walk, or a deaf starting to hear. Poor Hindus are converted to Christianity through these ‘sabhas’. Rizwan Khan and Arshad Qureshi of ‘Islamic Research Foundation’ set up by the absconding terrorist Dr Zakir Naik, were arrested from Kalyan a few years ago. These two had converted about 700 Hindus to Islam by cheating and luring them, as was found by the State anti-terrorist squad in its investigations.

Every year, around ten lakh Hindus are converted. The conversion of Hindus is a big anti-national conspiracy. States like Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur already have a majority Christian population. Hindus have become a minority population in 9 States of India. There is a demand of declaring these States as independent countries, as made by some of these States. These incidents prove what Swatantryaveer Savarkar had said that religious conversion is like conversion of nation.

Recently, it has been observed that 840 women/ girls have gone missing from Pune district. As per the ‘National Crime Record Bureau’, 18901 women/ girls had gone missing from Maharashtra in 2018. Where are these girls going ? Whether they get caught in love jihad, or they are sold in gulf countries, or they are promised marriage and pushed into prostitution, or what else happens to them, needs to be found out. The then committee set up under the retired Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari recommended passing a law banning religious conversion by following the example of States like Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Now, ten States, viz. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Karnataka have passed laws banning religious conversion. Such a law is also likely to be passed in Goa; therefore, this law should be implemented immediately even in Maharashtra, demanded Mr. Ghanavat.
