Satara: A state level conference held by the Warkari sect on a large scale, received an overwhelming response from other Hindu protagonists as well. Saints and holy men offered guidance at this conference held on the Koteshvar Maidan, in two sessions. Saints and holy men beckoned people to begin the task of preserving the Hindu religion first by crushing the anti-Hindus.

The first session was conducted by H.B.P. (Hari Bhakta Parayan) Balasaheb Maharaj Kandharkar, after it was inaugurated by H.B.P.Dr. Sadanand Maharaj Tungareshvar and H. B.P.Dr. Mahamandaleshvar Devbappa Farshivale after lighting of the auspicious lamp. H.B.P. Bajirao Maharaj Javlekar, Bhagvatacharya H.B.P. Keshav Maharaj Ukhalikar, President of the Pune Universal Peace Centre H. B.P. Dr. Vishvanathji Karad (Sir) and H.B.P Sandipan Maharaj Shinde all spoke on the `Influence and effects of literature by saints on Maharashtrian culture’. Compering of the programme was done by H.B.P. Narahari Maharaj Chaudhary.

People who do not accept literature of saints have no right to live in Maharashtra! – H.B.P. Sandipan Maharaj Shinde

H.B.P. Sandipan Maharaj Shinde said , “Culture is the most essential component in human life.’ He defined an ‘act’ as that gets done by a non-living object;  a ‘perverted act’ as that committed by one in which the qualities of equality, unity and tolerance are lacking and a ‘culture’ as that in which one’s actions are balanced. “One who thinks about himself only after fulfilling the needs of another is said to be a ‘cultured’ individual. One gets an opportunity to see such individuals in Hindu culture. That culture which still exists without intimidating or luring others is the Hindu religion, its foundation being the Vedas, Scriptures, Puranas and literature of saints. Through literature, saints have provided society with moral, intellectual, material, thought-provoking and religious knowledge”. He further said that those who cannot accept the literary works of Saint Tukaram and Saint Dnyaneshvar have no right to live in Maharashtra because living with spiritual emotion and love is far superior to living as a meaningless rationalist. When one sees a woman one should think of her as mother, when one sees a man one should think of him as father with emotion but when ones sees an idol one should worship it as God, with spiritual emotion.
   
Warkaris! Arise! Use your weapon of devotion to destroy the opponents of Hinduism! – H.H. Mohanbuva Ramdasi

H.H. Mohanbuva Ramdasi said , “Saint Samarth had organised the first meet of saints here. After 350 years this is the second one being held at the same venue. Through this conference the Varkharis have displayed their unity. Only the Varkari sect can unite in such large numbers. Saint Tukaram Himself wrote to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj about Saint Samarth Ramdas Swami. It is the need of the hour for Hindus to unite to prevent any misguiding elements to take advantage of society, to prevent attacks on the Hindu religion and to stop invasions. The very cymbals that the Varkaris have used till today for devotional songs (bhajans) should now be hurled onto the heads of the beastly heretics. The Ramdasis and Varkaris should now assume the role of fierce warriors (dharkaris) and destroy anti-Hindus with the weapon of devotion.

Let us crush Hindu haters who are burning down Hindu temples – H.B.P. Keshav Maharaj Ukhalikar

The Maharaj said, “In the Kaliyug saints will suffer immensely in the process of reinstatement of Dharma. Hindus need to unite and be prepared to face the attacks on Hinduism. Anyone just comes and denigrates the Hindu religion or the Varkaris. Slowly Hindus are becoming aware of this and today’s conference is a consequence of this. When a Danish artist sketched the cartoon of Paigambar, an Indian Minister offered a reward of gold equivalent to the weight of the killer and a crore rupees, yet the  police remained silent. But When Mr.Vinay Katiyar offered a reward of two crore rupees to the one who would chop off the hands of the Hindu hater M.F.Hussain who drew vulgar, nude sketches of  Hindu deities, he was immediately arrested.

For how long will we tolerate all this? Today our temples are on fire. Though the Christians and Muslims are responsible for this, first we need to crush those Hindus who have connived with them !”

Only literature of saints can give appropriate guidance in life – H.B.P. Mahadev Maharaj Raut

H.B.P. Mahadev Maharaj Raut said, “Maharshtra is a land of saints. In this land even corpses have written holy texts. The Dnyaneshvari was narrated by Saint Dnyaneshvar but written by the corpse of Sacchidanandbaba. One can say that a corpse is better than a living person who does not read verses from the Dnyaneshvari. Saints play a role of authority. The holy text by Saint Tukaram, a prosaic composition, was preserved on a stone. One who has not read these verses is inferior even to a stone. Seekers must read literature of saints because it gives them appropriate guidance in life.”

Varkaris possess the strength to wipe out darkness – H.B.P. Bajirao Maharaj Javlekar

H.B.P. Bajirao Maharaj Javlekar said, “Till the sunrise, light is derived from several sources, but they do not possess the potential to get rid off this darkness. In comparison with other sects the Varkari sect is the rising sun of tomorrow.”

Creation of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj  is a gift of literature by saints – H.B.P. Dr. Vishvanathji Karad (Sir)

Today visiting temples or places of pilgrimage is termed as blind-faith. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, an icon of good qualities was moulded by the literary works of Maharashtrian saints. Yet today, instead being termed as `social reformer’, Saint Tukaram is  termed by some in the country as `traitor Tukaram’. If youth is informed about all this through actions, missions, kirtans and discourses, you will be doing Maharashtra a great favour. 350 years ago Saint Tukaram gifted the world with teachings which were a beautiful blend of science and Spirituality. Today, the `Dasbodh’ has gained acclaim as a great work worldwide for its knowledge on administration. The Varkaris have played a major role in preventing conversion of Maharashtra into a ‘Bihar’, so also they have played a role in keeping man free of addictions.

Pro-Gandhi and pro-dalit literature is lifeless! – H.B.P. Dr. Balasaheb Maharaj Kandharkar

In his presidential address H.B.P. Dr. Balasaheb Maharaj Kandharkar said,” Literature by saint throws light on the Supreme Principle. In India this literature has played a great role in bringing about a revolution. Today’s pro-Gandhi, pro-dalit and pro-feminist literature is lifeless! It is only through literature of saints that one gains divine knowledge. Saints have undertaken the task of unifying society divided under the banner of caste and religion under the flag of devotion. Saints have created culture and derived tremendous energy from it. We must utilise this energy to counteract the attacks on Hinduism.”

One can merge with Lord Vitthal through devotion alone ! – Vijayji Das

Mr. Vijayji Das, who flew in from the USA to attend this conference said, “A reputed cancer surgeon on a visit to India saw people on pilgrimages, places of pilgrimage and religious marches (dindi). On his return to America he said, `In India I had a vision of God. I saw a religious march in which 3 lakh devotees participated amidst devotional songs glorifying Lord Vitthal, in a disciplined manner, without any security arrangements. If you ask them for anything, they give you Lord Vitthal.’ One cannot be blessed by Lord Vitthal with knowledge and action; one can merge with Him through devotion alone. Today attending this meet, a union of devotion and energy, I feel fulfilled.”
