Dharashiv : The temple of Maharashtra’s chief Deity Shri Tulja Bhavani Devi is under government control. Crores of Rupees have been embezzled in the temple donation box auction between 1991 and 2009. While ruling on the public interest litigation filed in the Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Bench of the Mumbai High Court by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti through the Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, had asked for the inquiry report of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the matter. The CID’s investigation report has come up with a number of shocking findings. According to the inquiry report, a scam of Rs. 8 crore 45 lakh 97 thousand has been committed in the donation box auction. The report also points fingers at one auctioneer, 5 Tahsildars, 1 chartered accountant, 1 endowment board officer and recommends that the accused be booked. However, 5 years after the inquiry report was submitted to the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department (Maharashtra) on September 20, 2017, no action has been initiated against the culprits. While one accused has died during this period, 31 years have passed since the scandal started. Is the government waiting for the other accused to die or is it backing the accused? At least now, the Maharashtra government should show some seriousness and immediately register an FIR against all the culprits. FIRs should be filed and they should be arrested and the amount of looted by them should be recovered from them with compound interest. Otherwise, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will have to take to the streets and launch a state-wide agitation, and if necessary, a public interest litigation will have to be filed in the court, warned Shri. Rajan Bunage while speaking at a press conference convened here.

He was speaking at a press conference held at Shri Balaji Mandir Hall, Marwad Street, Dharashiv. Advocate from Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, Adv. Nilesh Sangolkar, former president of Shri Tuljabhavani Pujari Mandal Shri. Kishore Gangne were present.

Why is the administration silent on the embezzlement of crores of Rupees in temples? – Advocate Nilesh Sangolkar, Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad

The temples have been taken over by the government allegedly to improve the management of the temples; However, corruption is taking place in the temple itself. Therefore, it is clear that the purpose of government takeover of the temples has not been achieved. Why is the administration which imposes fines and also shows fear of law to the citizens for not wearing masks or helmets, us silent on the embezzlement of Rs 8 crores in the temple? This question was raised by Advocate Nilesh Sangolkar.
