HJS slams legal notice on ‘Tulsi Tobacco’

Mathura: A company called ‘Dharmapal Satyapal Limited’ has denigrated the great Indian saint Tulsidas by printing his picture on the tobacco packets hurting feeling of all Hindus. In this context, Shri. Purushottamdas, a spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has served a legal notice to the company through his advocate Shri. Pankaj Sharma.

It has been mentioned in the notice, �Your product of Tulsi Royal tobacco is sold all over India including Vrundavan, Mathura. Goswami Tulsidas is held in very high esteem by all Hindus. Thousands of Hindus worship him along with Lord Rama and Bajarangbali Hanuman. As per the ‘Bhavishya Purana, a holy scripture, saint Tulsidas is an incarnation of Bhagawan Maharshi Valmiki. All members of HJS as also Hindus in this country and all over the world worship Goswami Tulsidasji.

The packets of tobacco bearing pictures of Goswami Tulsidas are thrown on the road after consumption which get trampled thus hurting feeling of thousands of Hindus. A letter was sent to the company on 6th October 2006 and on 28th October 2006, another letter was hand delivered to the company in its office. That letter was signed by many religious leaders of Hindus. As no action was taken on the above referred letter by the company, one more letter was sent on 13th November 2006 by registered post. But you continued to hurt feelings of Hindus for your financial gains.

Even today, the empty packets are found strewn all over the road. Your anti-Hindu activities are offense under article 295 of Indian penal Code. Such activities can cause rage among Hindus disturbing law and order situation. Therefore, this notice is issued to you to remove the picture of Goswami Tulsidas printed in an attire of an ascetic so also withdraw all such stock from the markets all over India else legal action will be taken against you and you will bear its cost.�

Saint Tulsidas on Tobacco packets: HJS protests, company deaf!

Panvel: ‘Dharmapal Satyapal Limited’ a company manufacturing ‘chewing tobacco (Zarda)’ has misused the picture of great saint Tulsidas on its packets of ‘Zarda’. Shri. Purushottam Das of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti from Mathura therefore, wrote a letter against the misuse of the picture of saint Tulsidas; but the company has taken no action so far.

Shri. Das has stated in his letter that saint Tulsidas is revered not only in Northern India but all over the country. It is an insult to print his picture on the tobacco packets and it has hurt feelings of Hindus. Shri. Das has demanded that the picture of saint Tulsidas be immediately removed and the company should tender apology for misusing the same in such manner. Shri. Ramanujacharyaji, Sadguru of Sree Tulsi Peeth has also very strongly opposed such misuse of the picture and has said that the company would be cursed by the saint for denigration of his picture. Names of Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh and Sanatan Sanstha were also written on the letter.
