#AndhraTemplesInDanger trends as Hindus express concern over continued attacks on temples

The last few days have witnessed an increasing number of attacks on Hindu Temples in Andhra Pradesh. Recently three silver lions were stolen from the Rath of Kanakdurga temple (Vijayawada), a century-old Rath of the Shri Lakshmi Narasimha temple (Godavari District) was burned down, a Nandi in a 12th century Shiva temple (Krishna District) was defaced. These incidents are just representative of the brazen attacks that are taking place almost every day in Andhra Pradesh. These attacks have left the Hindus incensed. Some Hindus have alleged that these attacks have increased after the incumbent Jaganmohan Reddy government came to power, and that the government has completely failed to put an end to these attacks.

To raise concerns against ongoing attacks on temples in Andhra Pradesh, devout Hindus took to Twitter and started tweeting with hashtag #AndhraTemplesInDanger. Soon this hashtag became one of the top 10 national trends on Twitter and it was on 3rd spot for few hours. More than 45,000 tweets were tweeted with the said hashtag.
