Bhiwandi (Thane, Maharashtra) : The proposed anti-superstitions Act will impose ban on many customs and traditions followed by Hindus and will interfere in their religious matters and therefore, it should be cancelled. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held demonstrations near Tehsildar’s office for the above demand. A representation was submitted to Tehsildar Thombre. Mr. Vishwas Thale, the taluka-chief of Shiv Sena for Bhiwandi, city-chief Milind Ballal, dy. city-chief Manoj Dhage, Bhiwandi city-coordinator Mrs. Vaishali Mestri, Shiv Sena’s Shelar Branch-chief Mr. Ramesh Gaikwad, Agri community Utkarsh Samiti’s President Mr. Arun Patil, Shiv Sena’s Chavindra Branch-chief Mr. Suresh Patil, Mr. Sandip Bhagat, district- Vice President of Bajarang Dal for Thane, former Panchayat Samiti’s Chairman Shridhar Khare, Shiv Sena’s dy. area-chief Mr. Chakradhari Patil, devout Hindus viz. Kishore Kondalekar , Ramesh Umrathkar, HJS members Pratap Pandit and Sushama Palave, Mrs. Manisha Kshirsagar and Supriya Gaikwad of Ranaragini, women’s branch of HJS and 30 members from various organizations were present on the occasion. All participants signed the representation.  

Mr. Vishwas Thale Bhiwandi taluka-chief of Shiv Sena made an appeal to all Hindus to fight against the said Act. Mr. Abhijit Bhojane of Dharmashakti Sena explained how the Government was trying to pass an Act that would impose restrictions on Hindus and the Government was giving misleading information about the anti-superstitions Act, that will in fact, put a ban on religious sentiments of Hindus. The Act will eradicate Hindus’ faith rather than their superstitions. He appealed that Hindus should unite and oppose the said Act. Mr. Arun Patil of Agri Utkarsh Samiti , Sandip Bhagat of Bajarang Dal and Mrs. Manisha Kshirsagar of Ranaragini also made an appeal to Hindus to unite and fight against passing of the Act.

Highlights

  • Mr. Vishwas Thale, the taluka-chief of Shiv Sena for Bhiwandi praised HJS activists and said that despite heavy rains and facing many obstacles, HJS activists reached there to participate in the demonstrations. He also prayed to Goddess Jagadamba for their well being and long life to accomplish their mission.
  • Mrs. Sandhya Pawar of Bhiwandi Vahini did video-recording of the agitation. Two reporters from local newspapers were also present on the occasion.
  • Police went to the place of agitation to hand over the permission as it could not be delivered on time due to traffic jam.
