Centre on Sabarimala : Court cannot interfere in all religious customs

New Delhi : The Centre has come out with a stern stand in connection with the Sabarimala issue. The court cannot interfere in all religious customs. The Centre made it clear that courts should not intervene in religious customs which is devoid of criminal nature.  The Centre made this stance clear when the larger bench is set to begin hearing on the 7 contentious subjects with regard to Sabarimala tomorrow. Officials from the Ministry of Law informed about the Centre’s stand.

The proceedings will be heard by a bench headed by the chief justice S A Bobde. The Centre will also take a stand on pointing out the ethics not mentioned in the constitution and oppose the verdict. Solicitor General Thushar Mehta will inform about the Centre’s stand to the apex court.
