  • Slackness on the part of the Government responsible

  • Warkari outraged

Sadashivnagar (Dist. Solapur, Maharashtra) : The ritual of ‘Ringan’ taking place at the time of Dnyaneswar Mauli’s Palanquin Utsav at Sadashivnagar had to be cancelled due to slack attitude of the Government. This incident has taken place for the first time in the history of ‘Wari’ and hence the Warkaris are furious about it. (Would the Government have shown such slackness in case of people of other Faiths? If any officer had done so he would have been suspended immediately. The Government and the management have tried the patience of the tolerance of Hindus. – Editor SP)

Mr. Rajabhau Chopdar, heading the decision making body said, “The Palanquin Utsav of Mauli proceeding from Alandi to Pandharpur entered Dist. Solapur at Dharmapuri. From that place only the careless attitude of the management was experienced. There was traffic jam every now and then which was delaying the Sohala. Today morning the Palanquin left for Malshir from Natepute. Afternoon lunch was expected to be at Mandavi Odha; but the vans carrying the food did not reach in time and as a result many Warkaris had to go hungry. Even then the Warkaris kept on walking without complaining. The Ringan was to be in the compound of Sadashivnagar Factory. We started making arrangement for the Ringan as per the tradition.

Despite the hurdles we started the work of arranging Ringan. But the workers in the factory started telling us new methods of Ringan. The Warkaris come with banners and they have to be received with honour in a particular order. So when they came with their banners they were held up by the security of the factory. First of all the Warkaris were hungry and on top the mismanagement in the factory compelled us to take the decision to cancel the Ringan.” (Everyone knows what would have happened if the tradition of the people of other Faith was broken. Should the Hindus too behave like that to protect their feelings towards Dharma? – Editor SP)
