Karad (Dist. Satara, Maharashtra) : The secular Government has been bowing before pressure exerted by few atheist persons and trying to thrust anti-superstitions Act on religious people. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) staged strong agitations at Datta Chowk on Thursday for cancellation of this Act which is against Hindu Dharma and against the Constitution of India. Pujya Shirtode Maharaj from Nadsi, Mr. Vishnudas Pataskar, city-chief of BJP, Mr. Chandrakant Kumbhar, the Vice President of ‘Yoga-Vedanta’ Committee, members of HJS viz. Mr. Manohar Jadhav, Mr. Gurav and 50 youth members attending ‘Dharmashikshan’ classes at Vanvasmachi took part in the agitation. Mr. Sagar Amale of ‘Sree Shiva-pratishthan’ said on the occasion, “Nowadays, anybody and everybody starts attacking Hindu Dharma. Hindus need to unite to oppose the anti-superstitions Act.” Mr. Nitin Kashid of Shiv Sena said, “This Act is more dangerous than the oppressive Acts passed by the British. Shiv Sena will strongly oppose this Act in the Legislative Assembly. We will force the Government to withdraw this Act.” Mr. Sambhaji Jagtap and Mr. Hanamant Kadam explained the Act and its severe effects. A representation signed by 500 citizens opposing the Act was submitted to the Resident Tehsildar, Mrs. Rama Joshi. There were many women participating in this agitation.

Nanded (Maharashtra) : Demonstrations were held near the District Collector’s office today’s by the enraged agitators on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). The proposed Act was explained in detail to the people and a signature drive was also undertaken. There was good response from the people. A representation demanding cancellation of this Act was submitted to the District Collector by a delegation of HJS. The chief advocate of Shiv Sena Dharmabhushan Dilip Thakur, along with other Shiv Sena members and devout Hindus like Mr. Prakash Koudge, Shrikant Pathak, Dattatreya Dhumshetwar, Vedamurti Krushna Beralikar, Durgesh Joshi, Mangesh Joshi, Suresh Mantri, Balaji Shinde, Prahlad Satipwar, Sahebrao Deshmukh were present on the occasion.    

‘Dharana’ agitation at Mangalwedha

Mangalwedha (Dist. Solapur, Maharashtra) : HJS held ‘Dharana’ agitations between 11.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. near Tehsildar’s office. Slogans were raised against the Government. The representation given by the agitators was accepted by Tehsildar Dudhe. 35 devout Hindus participated in the agitations.

Pandharpur (Maharashtra) : The secular Congress-led Government is trying to eradicate the religious faith of people under the guise of eradication of superstitions and this Government ploy should be foiled. This was the appeal made by senior pro-Hindu journalist Dwaipayan Varkhedkar while talking to the agitators during the ‘Dharana’ agitation carried out by HJS near Tehsildar’s office. Mr. Shirish Katekar, a senior leader of BJP said, “We will not allow the Government to pass this anti-Hindu Act. If required, we will take to the roads and take the Government to task.” Slogans condemning the Government were raised by the demonstrators. Mr. Shahsishekhar Patil, a representative of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ read out the drawbacks in the proposed Act. A representation was submitted to Tehsildar Shailesh Suryavanshi on the occasion. The agitation carried out between 11.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon was joined by Mr. Datta Rajput, the city-chief of BJP, Mr. Mahesh Sathe, the Dy- District chief of Shiv Sena, Mr. Ramesh Kothari, Mr. Abhaysingh Kulkarni of Hindu Mahasabha, Mrs. Sunita Battewar of ‘Ranaragini’, Mr. Neelesh Sangolkar, Abhay Kulkarni, Sandip Unshingekar, Dr. Neeta Shiraskar, Mrs. Suvarna Pethkar of Sanatan Sanstha, Mr. Appasaheb Sangolkar and Dr. Shripad Pethkar of HJS along with many eminent persons from various pro-Hindu organizations.
